"B2L-EDIT" v1.1 The Breach 2 Squad Leader Editor for the Atari ST. Converted by the Jumping Pumping Machine Brain! (Originally by Alf Engineering) CONTENTS The B2L_EDIT.LZH archive should contain: 1. B2LEDIT.PRG - the main program. 2. B2LEDIT.RSC - the resource file. 3. B2LEDIT.TXT - the documentation file (this!). If any of these files are missing, return the archive for a full refund! INTRODUCTION This program will allow you to create nearly invincible Squad Leaders. While this concept may be offensive to some, I've found that it can be very therapeutic to be nearly invincible. Also, if you build a lot of scenarios, this program will make testing their features a lot easier -- how many times have you put in a diabolical trap, and then upon trying to test it to see if it works, find you can't even reach that point because the opposition obliterates you? It will never happen again, not with B2L-EDIT around! OPERATION Operation is easy. Run B2LEDIT.PRG in medium or high resolution (the program needs to be run from a root directory to work properly) and click on LOAD. A file selector will appear. Double click on your favorite Squad Leader (*.B2L). Edit the character's attributes by moving field-to-field with the arrow keys. Use BACKSPACE or ESC to erase existing values. See the Breach 2 documentation for details on the attributes. ENDING Once you've got your Squad Leader the way you want him (or her?), click on SAVE, and the path information will be displayed. If you want to replace the old .B2L file, just click on OKAY, click on REPLACE, and off you go. Otherwise, specify new path information. WEIRDISMS Actually, this program is a conversion of Pal-Edit, the Paladin Character Editor, originally by Alf Engineering (and, unavoidably, still has the previous version's bugs... if you've got the Pal-Edit docs, see those for details). When Breach 2 first came out, I tested Pal-Edit with a Breach 2 .B2L file, and it seemed to work fine, so I converted their original program (and unfortunately, I couldn't find the original docs anywhere, and I couldn't find an original archive of Pal-Edit anywhere either [seems to have vanished... even from GEnie!], so I had to create new docks from memory! Sorry, Alf!) This being true, the ability to alter your Squad Leader's history (number of kills, battle time, victories, etc.) may be a bit suspect. It seems to sometimes work, and sometimes not. Just remember that you never really need to screw around with a Squad Leader's history. Those stats don't affect promotion to higher ranks, so it's best to leave them alone (this program still thinks it's editing a Paladin character...) Also, it is best to re-boot your system after editing a Squad Leader (a must before running Breach 2 or the scenario builder).
