Ron Field Thanks a lot for sending the survival kit. Both my wife and I are playing Ishar on our Falcons. Your map program runs fine on ST low on the Falcon. Your Character editor works really good except for the commands on the bottom-Edit, Next Character, etc. don't get high lighted so you can't where your at, but will work if you keep count of your arrow keys. It seems like you did this kit for an ST, rather than a Falcon because it seems it is playing a little different on the Falcon. Where you go in the Forbidden Room and one character dies then or later?, on the Falcon all five people start slowly dying. We haven't discovered what will stop this from happening. In Fimnurih Forest there is a Lizard Man in the clearing near the last h in the name on the map, he has some special magic rings (5). You need the Helm of Light (in our game it is called the Helmet of Vision. Your Character Editor helped us out a lot cause on the Falcon program there is a bug that makes your levels revert to level 2 when you first reload the game unless you reload twice and be sure to save game only when your true level is showing. Thanks again. >Eric March I am glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I did make it for the ST rather than a Falcon. I don't have a Falcon (I wish...) and at the time I wrote the character editor they still weren't out in Canada. So I wrote it generally for the Atari ST/e machines. But it is n ice to know that my editor works for the Falcon version of the game; I at least now have confirmation of this. The reason the options may not get highlighted may be beacuse of the fact that I use VT-52 commands to print the inverse text; they may not work as well since the Falcon uses VT-52E(xtended) mode. I also wasn't very knowledgable about doing graphics when I wrong that program; given the chance I could make the program far better now than I could have then. (I may still yet write an editor for Ishar II: Messengers of Doom if I feel the urge... but right now I'm completely wrapped up in trying to get my ANSI screen editor in workable condition...) As for the differences... strange how they changed it like that. The cabin, on the ST version, only kills one character, and does it within, say, two or three minutes of leaving the cabin. The character it kills appears to be the last one that joined your party... or it could be some o ther factor, but that seemed to be the best guess at the time that I could make. I never figured out a way to prevent it, either. I didn't know about the monster in Fimnurih forest, though; somehow I lost the Helm of Light, so perhaps that was the problem. Anyway. Enjoy the editor... sorry to hear about the bugs in the Falcon version; I've never been a fan of sloppy programming. :-) diehl@io.org (DragonLord)
