CUBAEAST.DY1 Dynamic scenery for Guantanamo Bay area.
GUANTANA.MOD Mode file - Learjet on ground at Guantanamo Bay NAS.
CUBA-DOC.TXT This document.

Memory allocation requirements for these files are 50K for static and 20K
for dynamic scenery, with 15 scenery objects.

Anybody hoping to find detiled scenery in these files is going to be
disappointed. The only exception is the Naval base at Guantanam Bay. The
Naval Air Station there has plenty of detail, but any resemblance to the
real Guantanamo Bay is purely coincidental. The time required to do a
proper job on the island is far greater than I can devote to the subject.
The lack of available reference material didn't help matters either.

The reason for doing Cuba is simple enough. Because it's there! Not doing
it would leave a very big hole in the Caribbean area scenery which is being
created by a fair-sized group of people. The reason for splitting it into
3 files is also simple. While it would have been feasible to get it all
into one file, (CUBACNTR actually contains the complete land mass,) the
scenery would have required a boundary of about 375 miles radius. This
would have enclosed not only Jamaica and a large part of the Bahamas, but
also much of Florida as well.

These files are not completely devoid of "scenery". I have included pretty
well all the mountains that exceed 1000' in height, as well as all the
lakes that are more than 3 or 4 miles in diameter. Runways are in place
for about 20 airports, some of them with approach lighting, and some with
fuel. As already mentioned Guantanamo Bay has a lot to look at.

A listing of airfields and Navaids follows. I have included all the VORs,
on the island, and a few in neighboring countries as well. I put most of
the NDBs in. I left off a few that didn't really seem necessary for FS
navigational purposes. The airport listings have been simplified. I only
show details for the longest runway for those airports that have more than
one. The listing is as follows:- Following the name is the length of the
longest runway. Then comes the heading for this runway, followed by the
elevation. Airports with more than one runway have the number in the next
column. Then comes the 3-letter identification of the nearest Navaid. The
next three columns indicate which airports have fuel dumps, which have
approach lighting, and which are operated by the military. Finally we
have the FS coordinates for the airport.

Note: Due to compromises which had to be made to the shape and positioning
of the island some Navaid bearings will not agree with those derived from
charts for the area.
