There are a couple of differences between this version (1.1) and the old
one (1.0):

most of the restrictions on how you can place objects have been removed,
they need not be axis aligned.

tiling can now be done on anything except a box and an algebraic surface.

All objects can be textured using marble, and wood (a very late addition).

A number of primitives have been added: rings, and disks.

The file format is different (there is a conversion program in vort/old);
it is now tagged, and can be read on any machine regardless of the byte
order that the machines architecture expects - this proved to be a problem
down here, don't know if it has troubled anyone else...

The camera model has being corrected.

You can now specify an up vector so that lookat won't unexpectedly turn things
upside down.

There is a movie program for displaying pictures on the sun, pc, and X11
in sequence plus a few programs that generate brief animations.

Most of it works!
