This group of files contains 1183 instruments for the Adlib and Soundblaster music cards. If you use the newer versions of these cards which use the .BNK file format (such as STANDARD.BNK) then simply copy the file BNK1183.BNK to your music directory and rename it STANDARD.BNK or whatever name you use. If you have an older version of the card which needs the individual instrument .INS files, or you simply want to extract them, this is how to proceed: 1. Make a subdirectory on the floppy or hard disk in which to extract the .INS files...be certain that there is at least 120,000 of free disk space. (This must be a subdirectory...DOS will not create 1183 files in a root directory.) 2. Copy the files EXTRACT.BAT and INST.EXE to this subdirectory. 3. Type "EXTRACT " That is all there is to it...the .INS files will be automatically extracted and written to the subdirectory. I have included a listing of the instruments in this bank file. It is the file INSTR.TXT. You can use DOS's TYPE command to view it or use the "COPY INSTR.TXT PRN" command to copy it to your printer. It is set for a form length of 60 lines per page.
