Edit Master Template Notes These notes are to assist you with the Templates that come standard with the Edit Master program. Template are continually being added by CBA and by Third Party Developers. If a Template that you need is not on this list, contact CBA for the latest Template availability. Also, please contact us if you would like to contribute Templates to the library. General Notes If you are having trouble sending or receiving Patch Banks from your MIDI device, check the following conditions: o Make sure the MIDI channel of the template matches the MIDI channel on the MIDI device. o Make sure that System Exclusive communications are enabled on the MIDI device. o Make sure that memory protect is OFF if you are editing or sending Patch Banks to the MIDI device. o Make sure you have BOTH MIDI IN and MIDI OUT cables connected properly from the computer to the MIDI device. Do NOT use any THRU outputs! o For Multi-Timbral units, make sure that you are using the Template for the correct part. Template Disk #1 MT32TIM1.TPL - Part 1 Timbre Bank for the MT-32 set to Unit # 17. Be sure the Timbre Group for Part 1 is set to use Timbres from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. Use the MT32PAT1.TPL Template first to set the Timbre group to 2 (Memory). MT32TIM2.TPL - Part 2 Timbre Bank for the MT-32 set to Unit # 17. Be sure the Timbre Group for Part 2 is set to use Timbres from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. MT32TIM3.TPL - Part 3 Timbre Bank for the MT-32 set to Unit # 17. Be sure the Timbre Group for Part 3 is set to use Timbres from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. MT32TIM4.TPL - Part 4 Timbre Bank for the MT-32 set to Unit # 17. Be sure the Timbre Group for Part 4 is set to use Timbres from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. MT32TIM5.TPL - Part 5 Timbre Bank for the MT-32 set to Unit # 17. Use this Template to set the Timbre Group for Part 1. Note that the MT- 32 does not support a name for the Patches. MT32SYS.TPL - The System Setup Template for the MT-32 set to Unit #17. D110TON1.TPL - Part 1 Tone Bank for the D-110 set to Unit # 17. Be sure the Tone Group for Part 1 is set to use Tones from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. D110SYS1.TPL - The System Setup Template for the D-110 set to Unit #17. D110SYS2.TPL - The System Setup Template for the D-110 set to Unit #18. D10TONE1.TPL - Upper/Part 1 Tone Bank for the D-10 set to MIDI Channel # 1. Be sure the Tone Group for Part 1 is set to use Tones from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. D10TONE1.TPL - Lower/Part 2 Tone Bank for the D-10 set to MIDI Channel # 1. Be sure the Tone Group for Part 2 is set to use Tones from the Memory Bank and not the Group A or Group B Internal Banks. D10SYS.TPL - The System Setup Template for the D-10 set to Channel #1. Template Disk #2 D50PATCH.TPL - The D-50 Patch Template for a D-50 set to MIDI Channel 1. BEFORE receiving Patch Data from the D-50 you must FIRST perform the following BEFORE you select the Template: 1) Press DATA TRANSFER 2) Press B.Dump 3) Press ENTER The D-50 should responding with * Data Transfer * Waiting You would then select the Template. The D-50 should responding with Sending... After data transmission has completed, press EXIT BEFORE sending Patch Data to the D-50 you must FIRST perform the following BEFORE you send the Patch Data: 1) Press DATA TRANSFER 2) Press B.Load 3) Press ENTER The D-50 should responding with * Data Transfer * Waiting You would then send the Patch Data. After data transmission has completed, press EXIT. M1PRGM1.TPL - A Program Template for the M1 set to Global MIDI Channel 1. Be sure to set the M1 to Program Mode BEFORE using this template. M1PRGM6.TPL - A Program Template for the M1 set to Global MIDI Channel 6. Be sure to set the M1 to Program Mode BEFORE using this template. M1COMB1.TPL - A Combination Template for the M1 set to Global MIDI channel 1. Be sure to set the M1 to Combination Mode BEFORE using this template. M1COMB6.TPL - A Combination Template for the M1 set to Global MIDI channel 6. Be sure to set the M1 to Combination Mode BEFORE using this template. K1SNGLA1.TPL - A Single Tone Template for the Kawai K1 INT Tone bank set to MIDI channel 1. K1SNGLB1.TPL - A Single Tone Template for the Kawai K1 int Tone bank set to MIDI channel 1. K1MULTI1.TPL - A Multi Patch Template for the Kawai K1 Multi Patch bank set to MIDI channel 1. DX7VOIC1.TPL - A Voice Template for the original Yamaha DX7 set to MIDI channel 1. Note that the Patch Bank must be transmitted manually from the DX7 by pressing Function 8 until "MIDI Transmit?" is displayed, and then press "+1" or "Yes". TX81ZV1.TPL - A Voice Template for the Yamaha TX81Z set to MIDI channel 1. To select a voice from the Parameter Editor, the Program Change Table MUST be set to I1-I32 at locations 1 to 32 in the Program Change Table. Note that this template edits only the basic DX21 voice parameters. RX21-1.TPL - A Template for the Yamaha RX-21 Drum Machine set to MIDI channel 1. No editing may be performed from this template, only data storage. JLCOPMSB.TPL - A Template for the original JL Cooper MSB Plus MIDI Patcher using ROM version 1.0. BLANK.TPL - A Blank Template (c) Computer Business Associates 1989 Edit Master Template Notes Template Disk #3 DW8000-1.TPL - The Template for a Korg DW-8000 and EX-8000 set to MIDI Channel 1. Be sure that Param # 85 = 2 ( ENABLE ALL). MAT6PAT1.TPL - The Template for a Oberheim Matrix 6/6R Single Patch Bank. Be sure that the following conditions are set: 1) Parameter 04, MIDI SysEx is set to ENABLE. 2) Parameter 03, MIDI Patch Change is set to ENABLE. 3) Parameter 00, MIDI Channel is set to 1. 4) Select PATCHES on the LCD. MAT6SPL1.TPL - The Template for a Oberheim Matrix 6/6R Split Patch Bank. Be sure that the following conditions are set: 1) Parameter 04, MIDI SysEx is set to ENABLE. 2) Parameter 03, MIDI Patch Change is set to ENABLE. 3) Parameter 00, MIDI Channel is set to 1. 4) Select SPLITS on the LCD. MAT6MSTR.TPL - The Template for a Oberheim Matrix 6/6R Master Parameters. Be sure that the following conditions are set: 1) Parameter 04, MIDI SysEx is set to ENABLE. 2) Parameter 03, MIDI Patch Change is set to ENABLE. 3) Parameter 00, MIDI Channel is set to 1. DS8PRGM.TPL - The Template for a Korg DS-8 Program Bank set to MIDI Channel 1. Be sure that Function-8 Exclusive is set to "ON". DS8COMB.TPL - The Template for a Korg DS-8 Combination Bank set to MIDI Channel 1. Be sure that Function-8 Exclusive is set to "ON". Note that edits to the Combination Patch may NOT be reviewed. You must send the entire Combination Patch Bank to the DS-8 to make any changes take effect. TF1VOIC1.TPL - The Template for a Yamaha TX216/TX816/TF1 Voice Bank set to MIDI Channel 1. TF1PERF1.TPL - The Template for a Yamaha TX216/TX816/TF1 Performance Bank set to MIDI Channel 1. TX802V_0.TPL - The Template for the Voices in a Yamaha TX802 set to Device Number 0. DX21-1.TPL - The Template for a Yamaha DX21 set to MIDI Channel 1. Be sure to set FUNCTIONs MIDI and SYS INFO to "ON". DX27-1.TPL - The Template for a Yamaha DX27/DX100 set to MIDI Channel 1. Be sure to set FUNCTIONs MIDI and SYS INFO to "ON". PROTEUS1.TPL - The Template for the 64 User Presets (Number 64 to 127) in the E-mu Proteus set to device number 0. Be sure of the following for ALL Proteus Templates: - Be sure to have "Preset Change" for Channel 1 set to "ON". - Be sure that when in Multi Mode that "MIDI Enable" for Channel 1 is set to "ON". - Set the "MIDI Program Preset" so that 64-127 -> 64 to 127. - DO NOT activate the Edit Menu on the Proteus when editing with Edit Master. The EDIT light MUST BE OFF! PROTEUS0.TPL - The Template for the 64 Factory Presets (Number 0 to 63) in the E-mu Proteus set to device number 0. Note that you MAY NOT edit these presets. To edit one of these Presets, you must first place it into one of the User Presets and then use the Template for the User Presets. This template will allow you to save these Presets to disk. Also be sure that: - The "MIDI Program Preset" is set so that 0 - 63 -> 0 - 63. PROTEUS2.TPL - The Template for the 64 Factory Presets (Number 128 to 191) in the E-mu Proteus set to device number 0. Note that you MAY NOT edit these presets. To edit one of these Presets, you must first place it into one of the User Presets and then use the Template for the User Presets. This template will allow you to save these Presets to disk. To select one of these Presets with a program change, the Program Map must be set accordingly. PROTUSTT.TPL - The Template for the Tuning Table in the E-mu Proteus set to device number 0. Note that you MAY NOT edit the Tuning Table with Edit Master. This template will allow you to save the Tuning Table to disk. PROTPMAP.TPL - The Template for the Program Map in the E-mu Proteus set to device number 0. Note that you MAY edit the Program Map with Edit Master. This template will also allow you to save Program Maps to disk. Template Disk #4 LXP-1.TPL - The Template for a Lexicon LXP-1 Multi-Effects Processing Module set to MIDI Channel 1. With this template you can access many NEW parameters that are NOT available from the front panel. Refer to the back of the LXP-1 owner's manual for a description of these parameters. NOTE: The LXP-1 only has two MIDI jacks. The unit's 2nd MIDI jack as shipped from the Factory is set to be a MIDI THRU. THE SECOND MIDI JACK MUST BE SET TO A MIDI OUT FOR EDIT MASTER TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE LXP-1. To set this jack to be a MIDI OUT, the unit must be opened and a jumper should be moved from W3 to W2. Parameter Editing Notes: - The names of the Parameters are listed as Param 1 thru Param 8 because the names of these parameters depend on the Program ID that is selected. - Some Parameters in the Lexicon require 16 bits. Edit Master handles this by assigning a Low byte and a High byte to the parameter. The low byte ranges from 0 to 255 decimal (0xFF hex). The high byte ranges from 0 to 63 (0x3F hex). The parameters actual value is ( high byte * 256 ) + low byte. MKS80UPT.TPL - The Template for the Roland MKS-80 "Super Jupiter" Upper Tone parameters on MIDI Channel 1. For ALL MKS-80 templates, be sure to set MIDI function to "III". Note that BOTH Tone data and Patch data is transmitted by the MKS-80 and is saved together in one bank. MKS80LRT.TPL - The Template for the Roland MKS-80 "Super Jupiter" Lower Tone parameters on MIDI Channel 1. For ALL MKS-80 templates, be sure to set MIDI function to "III" MKS80UPP.TPL - The Template for the Roland MKS-80 "Super Jupiter" Upper Patch parameters on MIDI Channel 1. For ALL MKS-80 templates, be sure to set MIDI function to "III" MKS80LRP.TPL - The Template for the Roland MKS-80 "Super Jupiter" Lower Patch parameters on MIDI Channel 1.
