COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ- Question: What sound boards does Cubic Player support? Answer: Gravis Ultrasound, SoundBlaster 1.x / 2.x / Pro / 16 / AWE 32 & compatibles, Windows Sound System, UltraSound Max, Ultrasound DaughterBoard, and the ProAudio Spectrum series. Question: I cannot play some of the larger sound files. Answer1: Cubic Player requires EMS or UMB memory. If you are using EMM386.EXE as your memory manager, consult your DOS manual for instructions on how to enable EMS memory. At most you will need one megabyte. If you are using MS-DOS 6 (tm) or later, you can type HELP EMM386 from the DOS prompt. Answer2: If you are using HIMEM.SYS as your memory manager, you will be limited to playing files which are smaller than the amount of free DOS memory available after CUBIC loads. Question: Why is there a lot of popping, or slowdowns in the music? Answer: Some tracked music requires a lot of CPU power to process. In other cases, the samples used in the MOD are not designed properly and nothing can be done. While it is possible to use a 386SX-based machine to play MODS from this disc, some will simply not play correctly. You can alleviate some problems by not using the Frequency Analyzer, or graphical analysis screen in CUBIC with slower processors. Question: Cubic player locks up when I run it Answer1: Do not run Cubic Player under MS-Windows 3.0 - 3.11 (tm). Cubic Player will run under Windows 95 (tm). See the CP.DOC file in \SNDMOD2 for info on how to set up Cubic Player under Windows 95. Answer2: You may need to define your sound card Port, IRQ, and DMA addresses. Your sound card manual will give these details. Run CP -h for a list of command line options for Cubic Player. Question: How do I reach technical support?
