            Honolulu is the capital and largest city of Hawaii. 
            Situated  on  the  southeast coast of the island of 
            Oahu, it is the seat of Honolulu  County.   It  has 
            diversified  industries, including sugar processing 
            and  pineapple canning.   Military  bases  and  the 
            U. S.  Pacific Command headquarters are of economic 
            significance.   Honolulu is one of the most popular 
            U. S. vacation resorts.  Its natural assets - which 
            include Waikiki  Beach, the Koolau Mountains rising 
            dramatically beyond the hotels, and extinct volcanic
            craters, such  as  Diamond Head - attract up to 6.5 
            million  visitors  annually.  The city is known for 
            its ethnic variety:  more than 70% are of Japanese, 
            Hawaiian, Chinese,  and  Filipino descent; 27% are  
            Caucasian.
