		 1994 by Patrick Shepherd

INTRODUCTION:

Progslot is a three reel progressive slot machine program
for Windows. It includes an autoplay feature, tracking of "win"
statistics, and the ability to adjust the reel spin speed to
match your computer speed. Progslot will run on any Windows
capable machine but at least a 386-25 is recommended. Slower
machines may have an unacceptably slow reel spin speed even at
the fastest setting. A mouse is required.

REGISTRATION:

Progslot is distributed as a shareware program. As such,
it is freely distributable as long as all files that are part of

will be greatly appreciated.

INSTALLATION:

If installing from a distribution diskette, copy all
files to a directory on your hard disk. In Windows, select
FILE/NEW/PROGRAM ITEM and enter (pathname)\PROGSLOT.EXE in the
command line box and click OK.

OPERATION:

When the game first starts, you have 500 credits and the
progressive jackpot is started at 1000. As you play, the jackpot
is incremented by 1 for every 20 credits bet and your credits are
adjusted as appropriate for your bets and wins. These numbers are
saved when you quit the game so your next session starts where
you left off. Whenever your credits fall to zero, the game is over
and you have lost.
Progslot is a standard 3-reel slot machine where you can
play 1,2, or all 3 visible lines on each spin. To enter coins,
click on the 1 Coin button at the bottom left. As each coin is
entered, the arrow to left of the line being activated will light
and the amount in the "BET" window will increment with a
corresponding decrease in you credits. When you have bet as much
as desired, click on the "Spin 'Em" button to start the reels
spinning. If you bet 3 coins or click on the 3 Coin button, the
reels will automatically start spinning. When the reels stop,
payoffs (if any) for all lit lines are calculated and added to
your credits. If you have any winners, lights flash, and
"!!WINNER!!" appears, unless you have the WinBlink effect turned
off.

Payoffs:
To see what all the payoffs are, click on "Payoffs" in
the menu bar. When down viewing the Payoffs, click on "OK" in the
Payoffs window. NOTE: Line 3, the "JACKPOT" line, is the bottom
visible line.

Reel Speed:
To set how fast the reels spin, click on "Reel Speed" in
the menu bar, adjust the scroll bar that appears as desired, and
click on "OK".

WinBlink:
When you hit a winner, the program will light lights and
blink !!WINNER!! (or !!JACKPOT!! if you hit it). To turn this
effect off (or on) select WinBlink from the SlotGame menu. This
is a toggle control, each time you select it it changes to the
opposite mode.

Reset Funds:
To get more credits without resetting the jackpot or
other game statistics, click on "Reset Funds" in the "Slot Game"
menu.

Reset Game:
To totally start over, click on "Reset Game" in the
"Slot Game" menu. This resets your credits to 500, the jackpot
to 1000, and zeroes out all your win statistics (see below).

Win Statistics:
The program keeps track of each spin, the total number
of lines you have played, and each win that you get (i.e., the
number of triple oranges, jackpots, etc that you hit). To view
these numbers, click on "Show Stats" in the "SlotGame" menu. To
reset these numbers to all zeroes without changing the jackpot
or your credits, click on "Reset Stats" in the same menu.

AutoPlay:
To make the slot machine play automatically, click the
"Autoplay" selection on the main menu bar. This brings up a
dialog box that allows you to change how long the program
pauses between spins (NOTE: the reel spin is included in this
number, so setting the delay towards 1 sec will show almost no
pause between spins if the reel spin time is that long or
longer. Once you click on "OK", the program will automatically
bet 3 coins and spin the reels until your either run out of
credits (or you have less than 3 credits left), you click the
"STOP" button, or you hit the JACKPOT.

Quit:
To quit the game (and automatically save all the game
parameters), click on the system menu button in the upper left
and select "CLOSE".

TECHNICAL NOTES:

Progslot can be run in the background while in autoplay
mode. Please note that this program is something of a hog of
CPU resources in this mode and other programs you have running
may be severely slowed down.
The nominal payback percentage of this slot machine is
94.58% (i.e., for every 100 credits you bet, you will, on
average, "win" about 94 credits). This is closely comparable to
the odds on many slot machines in major Los Vegas casinos. This
percentage includes the the variable amount of the jackpot.
