Subject: Removing The OCR Feature In WinFax PRO

Situation:
==========
You do not have enough memory or available disk space to run optical
character recognition (OCR) in WinFax PRO, so you want to remove the
OCR feature.

Solution:
=========
Perform the following procedure to remove the WinFax PRO OCR feature.

1. Make sure that WinFax PRO is not running.

2. Using the Windows File Manager, or the DEL command in DOS, delete
the following OCR files from the directory where WinFax is installed.

    CONFUSE.SET OMNIPAGE.SET
    DCEB.FMD OP.EXE
    DCONFUSE.SET OPSPELL.DLL
    DLL.LST SCANMNGR.LST
    IOLIB.DLL TRIGRAMI.DAT
    LASTSCAN.ZIP UKENG.MD *
    NNLOG_I.DAT USENG.MD
    OCR32.DLL USER.UD
    OCRNN.PLX WFWLIB.DLL

    * The file UKENG.MD may not be included with earlier WinFax PRO 3.0
      releases.

3. In addition, delete the following files, but only If you are certain
not to re-install the OCR feature at a later time.

    OCRLINK.DLL
    OMNISCAN.DLL
    OPSPELL.SET

These files cannot be re-installed through a custom installation
    (a full installation is required).

4. Delete the [AnyFax] section of your WIN.INI file, which is usually
located in your Windows directory (for example C:\WINDOWS).

    a) If you run Windows 3.1, open the Sysedit (System Editor)
application in Program Manager to edit the WIN.INI file. Save
your modified WIN.INI and exit Sysedit.

    b) If you run Windows 3.0, open and edit the WIN.INI file in
Windows Notepad, or any other basic text editor. Save your
modified WIN.INI and exit the text editor.

5. Exit and restart Windows so the changes to your WIN.INI can take
    effect.

Notes: After removing the OCR feature, the Recognize menu in the
WinFax PRO Viewer is inactive. The Recognize command in the
Receive Setup dialog is also inactive.

If you decide to reinstall OCR, see the procedure for Adding
Options After Installation in Chapter 2 of the WinFax PRO User's
Guide. Remember to deselect all custom installation options
        other than OCR.

For more information on editing Windows initialization files,
see WININI.WRI in Windows 3.1, or WININI.TXT in Windows 3.0
(these files are found in the Windows directory).
