                Copyright 1993 Joohee Jeong

This file contains some essential information on "jspell",
a spell checker for ASCII text files, featuring

  (1) easy to use interface,
  (2) fast and reliable word suggestion for misspelled words,
  (3) global action (ignore all, replace all, mark all etc.),
  (4) undo,
  (5) TeX/LaTeX.

System Requirements:
DOS 3.3 or later, Hard Disk, 384K RAM

Installation:
  (1) Make sure you have two files
        install.exe and jspell.000
in the same directory, and enter the command
        install (or a:install etc.)
  (2) You have the option of choosing automatic or manual installation.
(You'll get prompted for this.) If you feel comfortable with basic
DOS concepts like PATH, then you may want to choose the manual
option by hitting 'n' at the prompt.
It'll take about 15 seconds for 486 or fast 386 machines and
about 1 minute for 286 notebooks.
  (3) Following are the jspell files that should be in the same
      directory all the time
      --------------------------------------------------------------
         FileName size Description
      --------------------------------------------------------------
        00readme 3492 this file
        base.dic 153611 permanent dictionary (30,900 words)
        jspell.cfg <50 configuration file
        jspell.exe 55128 the jspell executable
jspell.hlp 3745 help text file (compressed)
        user.dic 0 personal dictionary
      --------------------------------------------------------------
  (4) After installation, it is recommended to execute the command
        jspell ?
to read the help screen, which explains the usage of "jspell".
  (5) If you have chosen the manual installation option, then above
6 jspell files should have been created in the current directory.
You are supposed to move all these files to some directory in your
      path. That's it.
  (6) If you have chosen the automatic installation option, then a
batch file "jspell.bat" should have been created in some
directory in your PATH, and all the 6 jspell files are put into
the jspell directory (usually c:\jspell) which is created by the
      installation program.

              /* -------------------------------------- */

Differences from the previous version 1.0:

  (i) Fixed the following bugs
    1. Couldn't install to a root directory.
    2. Didn't work under some environments other than the plain DOS.
    3. If the user.dic contains more than 1000 words and you spell
check a big file, say > 200Kbyte, then you might have experienced
       "insufficient memory" error.
(ii) Added the manual installation option.
(iii) install.exe and install.000 need not be in the current
        directory.
