* freeze is a new Unix compression program ... Get it from
  /usenet/comp.sources.misc/volume25/freeze at wuarchive ...

** gzip (GNU zip) is designed to replace Unix's compress  ... Get gzip
   from prep.ai.mit.edu (in /pub/gnu - where most GNU files there are now
   compressed with gzip) ...

The Unix version of these compression/decompression programs are
obtainable from  SIMTEL20: PD8:<MISC.UNIX>, oak: /pub/misc/unix
or  garbo: /unix/arcers ...
