SNOOPER: A POWERFUL Rx FOR THE MAC PERFORMS UP TO 60 DIAGNOSTIC TESTS

GLENDALE, CA -- May 14, 1992 -- Remember the days when doctors made
housecalls? SNOOPER diagnostic software for the Macintosh developed by
Maxa Corporation goes one step better. SNOOPER provides immediate
detection of hardware problems and sources of intermittent failures. It's
like having a personal Mac doctor on call.

SNOOPER is the industry's first hardware diagnostic tool broadly available
for endusers, dealers, technicians, service organizations and
distributors. This revolutionary software not only saves time and money,
it increases awareness of what's going on in the machine and its
individual components. "We've now introduced a product which is in a form
that can be used very readily -- a software diagnostic that is universal
and runs on all the Mac platforms," explained Maxa CEO Brent Luckman. "It
also removes the upset that often occurs when the source of a problem
isn't detected."

SNOOPER comes in two versions, SNOOPER, The Kit, which includes a
diagnostic NuBus board (used when a Macintosh won't even boot) plus
software, and SNOOPER, software only. SNOOPER performs over 60 major
component tests, prints test results and logs errors. SNOOPER also does
performance measurement testing (benchmarking) and provides extensive
system information reporting, allowing users and technicians to easily
determine complete system configuration data.

SNOOPER's initial screen presentation automatically tests the major areas
within the machine for component failure. It logs in a dialog box any
failures that have occurred and tells the user what to do. Pull-down
interactive menus allow for more exhaustive testing, typically of problems
with the hard disc drive, RAM and video. Additional tests determine which
RAM or SIMM module needs to be replaced and SCSI testing is provided for
segmentation and termination.

The power supply, system clock and the ADB port are major areas of
component failure. A key SNOOPER feature to address these parallels a
successful Maxa product development for the DOS and UNIX worlds -- a
plug-in board that allows users as well as technicians to find and
identify problems even if a "sad Mac" face is displayed on the screen.

The package also comes complete with loopback plugs which are installed at
the back of the computer to run serial port and modem port tests to insure
the integrity and proper function of these ports.

"With SNOOPER we've introduced a new Mac product category: Desktop
Diagnostics," said Luckman. "Now you can easily find the problem
yourself"

Suggested retail price for SNOOPER, The Kit (board plus software) is $299.
SNOOPER Software suggested retail price is $229.
