April 6, 1992 -- Leading Edge Products, Inc. today entered the multimedia
market with a family of systems that make computing an easier and more
efficient way to gather and disseminate information at business and home.
Multimedia is the integration of sight, sound and interactivity into the
PC environment through the addition of CD-ROM drives, high-level graphics,
audio boards and stereo speakers.

The company announced four multimedia systems and two CD-ROM systems that
can be upgraded to multimedia capability. The multimedia systems are fully
compliant with the Multimedia PC Marketing Council (MPC) standard and
include an extensive library of CD-ROM titles, sound and video
accessories. Leading Edge has integrated high-quality products from the
industry's top multimedia vendors into its systems. These include CD ROM
technology from Sony and Philips/Laser Magnetic Storage, interactive
business software from Microsoft -- including the latest, most advanced
Windows 3.1-- and Software Toolworks, and audio technology from Media
Vision.

The bundling of components such as the Family Education Collection and the
Integrated CD clearly differentiates Leading Edge from competitive
offerings. Included with all models except for the base CD-ROM (CD1104)
system, the Family Education Collection is comprised of twenty
applications from First Byte, an educational vendor that develops lessons
geared for preschool children through entry-level college students. These
include Dino Discovery, Puzzle Storybook, First Letters, First Numbers,
First Shapes, Math, Algebra, SAT Vocabulary, Spanish, Spelling and Word
Processing.

Leading Edge is the first hardware manufacturer to provide an Integration
CD which includes Start Up, an informational overview which enables users
to easily understand the system's options and features, and quickly become
familiar with its numerous capabilities. In addition, the Integration CD
includes a Restore program, designed to re-install a user's software files
to original condition if deleted by accident.

"Our role in introducing new technologies to business and home audiences is
very important because we play a major role in fueling mass market
acceptance," said Albert J. Agbay, Leading Edge president and chief
executive officer. "Multimedia is currently limited in market acceptance
because it's considered expensive, and out of the reach of most users. By
packaging all the necessary components into an accessible, cost-effective
multimedia system, we expect to generate significant interest and customer
demand."

The MPC compliant platforms are designed to support CD titles geared for
business applications. Leading Edge's multimedia systems improve user
interaction with computers by complementing existing text and graphics
capabilities with sound and improved visual images. As a result, the
systems provide users with an interesting, intuitive way to organize,
prioritize and simplify their tasks in business settings.

These systems can act as both a home tutor to supplement a student's
studies as well as complement a home business environment with its
advanced features. For example, the system can re-create John F. Kennedy's
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your
country..." speech with a reproduction of his voice projected from the
stereo speakers. This is one of nearly forty spoken quotations available.
In addition, users can view over twenty animated subjects from the
Encyclopedia such as the human body's circulatory system accompanied by
sound.

The CD-ROM (CD1104 and CD1104A) systems are based on the Leading Edge D3/SX
Plus system, which runs a 16 MHz 386SX processor and includes an internal
CDROM drive, 1 MB of memory, a 44 MB hard drive, a 5 1/4-inch floppy disk
drive, MSDOS and Viruscan.

In addition to the above mentioned features, the CD1104A includes CD
titles, a mouse, Microsoft Works, GeoWorks Desktop Manager, and headphones
and audio player accessories. Bundled CD titles include Software
Toolworks' Illustrated Encyclopedia and Time Table of History, Interactive
Storytime, and Leading Edge's Family Education Collection and Integrated
CD.

The MPC compliant Multimedia SX/20 (CD2208C and CD2213C) configurations are
based on the Leading Edge D3/SX20 Plus based on a 20 MHz 386SX processor,
offering users increased performance. The systems include 2 MB of memory,
dual floppy drives, an internal CD-ROM drive, an audio card, a mouse, and
speakers. Bundled software includes MS DOS 5.0, and Microsoft Windows 3.1.
The CD titles include Microsoft's Works for Windows Multimedia Edition,
Leading Edge's Family Education Collection and Microsoft Bookshelf for
Windows, which includes Concise Columbia Encyclopedia, World Almanac,
Hammond Atlas, American Heritage Dictionary, Bartlett's Quotations,
Concise Dictionary of Quotes, and Roget's Thesaurus. The CD2208C includes
an 84 MB hard drive and the CD2213C includes a 130 MB hard drive.

The Multimedia-Minitower DX/33 (CD5213C and CD5221C) systems run a 33 MHz
386DX processor and delivers 2 MB to 4 MB of memory, dual floppy drives,
high resolution VGA, an internal CD-ROM drive, an audio card, a mouse, and
speakers. These systems include the same bundled software and CD titles as
the Multimedia SX/20 systems. The CD5213C includes a 130 MB hard drive and
the CD5221C includes a 213 MB hard drive.
