New York, NY (June 23, 1992)--Information Builders, Inc. (IBI), announced
today at PC Expo (Booth #3652), Release 2.5 of LEVEL5 OBJECT for Microsoft
Windows 3.1, IBl's object-oriented, knowledge-based, application
development software. Release 2.5 includes new data interfaces and faster
execution that enable users to take full advantage of the large,
production application facilities offered in Microsoft Windows 3.1. The
new release offers a redefined user interface that delivers more power to
the developer, without raising the level of training required to utilize
that power. It also provides developers with shorter development cycles,
while delivering applications that meet production performance standards.

LEVEL5 OBJECT 2.5, a comprehensive Windows development tool, enables
developers to combine the point-and-click ease of Windows with the power
of object-oriented programming, expert system knowledge processing, and
the distributed data access of IBl's Enterprise Data Access (EDA)/SQL 2.0.
Release 2.5 also supports full implementation for Standard Query Language
(SQL), external program interfaces, triggers, decision support rules,
stored procedures, a superior Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) interface, and
interoperability with IBM's Information Warehouse Framework.

"We are witnessing a new generation of Microsoft Windows applications.
Windows developers now have a much higher level of expectation, and our
new release of LEVEL5 OBJECT surpasses that expectation," said Karl
Seiler, vice president of development, LEVEL5, IBI. "Release 2.5 provides
the advanced developer with access to a full range of development
techniques, while supporting a robust object architecture."

As a further enhancement to its existing object-oriented design, LEVEL5
OBJECT Release 2.5 offers several new pre-defined objects such as a new
"TABLE" object that provides flexible, multi-column table views with full
drill-down capabilities. This technology enables the developer to quickly
create powerful data intensive applications and facilitates the
development of intelligent decision support. Columns of a table can
consist of any data type, including graphical images. Any attribute of a
table can change at execution time, allowing applications to change and
react to the users' immediate needs.

The Productivity of Object Technology

LEVEL5 OBJECT leads novice users through the application development
process, delivering end-user applications quickly and easily. Pre-defined
objects allow a developer to utilize the power of objects without
extensive training in object-oriented programming. Database objects are
fully automated and provide powerful data access without complex data
definition. LEVEL5 OBJECT's open architecture enables developers to expand
the core functionality of their applications by allowing third party
developers to create their own customized add-on objects.

Comprehensive System Integration

LEVEL5 OBJECT offers users the most powerful selection of data access
alternatives in the PC market today with built-in direct data access to
local PC databases as well as remote mainframe data. With its EDA/SQL
interface, LEVEL5 OBJECT can access enterprise-wide data on 54 databases
and file structures residing on 35 platforms.

LEVEL5 OBJECT utilizes the power of Microsoft Windows in an innovative way
through its "DDE" object, enabling the full range of DDE power to be
delivered, while enhancing that value with the power and productivity of
object-oriented programming.

Flexible Cross Platform Development

Using the powerful LEVEL5 OBJECT display editor, developers can create
character-based as well as graphical displays all from the same
Windows-based editing environment. This allows the developer to use the
economical PC Windows-based platform to create applications destined for
VAX or for IBM MVS or VM LEVEL5 OBJECT Systems.

LEVEL5 OBJECT provides complete emulation of the look and feel of
character-based terminals. Applications can be developed and debugged on
any hardware platform and then delivered to the end-user on any hardware
platform. However, if needed, applications can also be created today on
existing mainframe terminals and right-sized later to Windows
workstations.

LEVEL5 OBJECT Release 2.5 is priced at $995 for the development system.
Users of previous LEVEL5 OBJECT releases can upgrade to Release 2.5 for
$145. Run-Only Systems are available for $220. Licensing for unlimited
distribution is also available. LEVEL5 OBJECT is available immediately.
