New SCSI Kit from DPT Eases Peripheral Installation
SmartCache Plus Shipping with Hardware and Software Package

June 23, 1992 -- Maitland, Florida - Distributed Processing Technology
(DPT), the leading supplier of high performance peripheral controllers, is
now packaging a complete suite of high-performance software drivers,
comprehensive instruction manual and a SCSI cable with all its SmartCache
Plus controllers. This will provide users with the tools they need for
hassle-free and easy installation of SCSI devices. The price of the
controllers will not change.

The device drivers supplied in the bundle include support for DOS, Novell,
OS/2 and Unix. DPT's software greatly enhances the performance of these
operating systems, especially by allowing 32-bit performance with the EISA
version of SmartCache Plus. The comprehensive instruction manual provides
a systematic, step-by-step routine for the installation for each operating
system, as well as detailed information about the features for the
SmartCache controller. The SCSI ribbon cable will provide connections for
2 SCSI devices.

"Because we've combined all of our high-performance drivers with SmartCache
Plus, our customers now get the entire DPT performance solution all at
once," says DPT sales and marketing director Dave Race. "It's easier for
our distributors to handle too, and we're more confident users have
everything they need as soon as they open the box."

SmartCache Plus is the only SCSI controller on the market that can be
configured as both a non-caching and a caching controller. The
entry-level-priced, non-caching configuration is converted to a high-end
caching controller by simply adding DPT's unique plug-on caching module
and up to 16 megabytes of cache RAM to the base controller. An add-on
mirroring module provides support for a software independent array of
mirrored drives. This scalable architecture provides manufacturers and
integrators a complete range of price/performance options, suitable for
systems ranging from standalone workstations and small networks up to
multiprocessor-equipped file servers.

Its scalable architecture, price/performance superiority and industry
standard compatibility have made SmartCache Plus the SCSI adapter of
choice for manufacturers and resellers alike. Computer manufacturers such
as AST, NEC, NCR, Intel, Wyse, Wang, Siemens, ICL/Nokia have standardized
on SmartCache Plus. It is also available from such leading computer
product distributors as Tech Data, Ingram Micro, Merisel and Robec.

DPT will continue to sell its device driver software independently for
users of DPT's noncaching EISA SCSI controller, SmartConnex/EISA, and for
those needing upgrades from older versions of the software. The domestic
and international price for each driver is $80.

U.S. list prices for DPT's SmartCache Plus controllers are $595 for the ISA
version and $785 for the EISA version. International list prices start at
$710 for the ISA version and $940 for the EISA version.

DPT SCSI Controllers Receive Novell Certification
SmartCache Plus Gets NetWare Nod

June 23, 1992 -- Maitland, Florida - Distributed Processing Technology
(DPI), the leading supplier of high performance peripheral controllers, is
announcing that its line of SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers has been
tested and approved by Novell for use with NetWare. Both ISA and EISA
models of the controller have been certified for use in version 3.11 of
the local area network operating system.

Novell certification bolsters user confidence

"SmartCache Plus is generally regarded as the best solution for speeding up
NetWare systems with six or more users," says DPT's director of sales and
marketing Dave Race. "Now that the SmartCache Plus package sports a Novell
sticker, users can feel even more secure about its interaction with
NetWare. Now they've got a performance solution that has Novell's
blessing."

SmartCache Plus exclusive features under NetWare

All SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers are provided with software for
enhanced performance under NetWare including Bus Mastering, Command
Overlapping, Command Queuing and Scatter/Gather memory transfers. But
high-performance is not the only benefit available with SmartCache Plus
controllers running on NetWare. Additional value-added features include
expanding the number of available controllers from one to two on the ISA
bus and from one to four on the EISA bus which provides the option for
more disk capacity. Another feature is connectivity which allows a greater
variety of peripherals available to NetWare, including tape,
magneto-optical drives, and CD-ROM devices.

Standard SmartCache Plus product features

SmartCache Plus is the only SCSI controller on the market that can be
configured as both a noncaching and a caching controller. The
entry-level-priced, non-caching configuration is converted to a high-end
caching controller by simply adding DPT's unique plug-on caching module
and up to 16 megabytes of cache RAM to the base controller. An add-on

DPT AND CHEYENNE SOLVE LAN BACKUP PROBLEM
SmartCache Plus SCSI Controller Runs ARCserve on Novell Nets

June 17, 1992 -- Maitland, Florida - Distributed Processing Technology
(DPT), a leading supplier of high performance peripheral controllers,
announced that it has completed a joint development effort with Cheyenne
Software to make Cheyenne's ARCserve version 4.0, the leading Novell
network tape backup software, compatible with DPT's line of SmartCache
Plus SCSI controllers. ARCserve-compatible versions of SmartCache Plus ISA
and EISA controllers are already shipping from DPT. An update for ARCserve
version 4.0, which is required, is now available from both companies.

Free ARCserve 4.0 patch available from DPT and Cheyenne

To obtain the free patch to ARCserve 4.0, contact Cheyenne Software
technical support at (516) 484-5110 or DPT technical support at (407)
830-5522. The ARCserve patch can also be downloaded from DPT's bulletin
board by calling (407) 831-6432. The filename is INSTALL.INS.

DPI/Cheyenne combination saves money and valuable bus slots

The ability to combine ARCserve with the SmartCache Plus controllers
enables users to manage both disk and tape devices with a single SCSI
adapter installed in the file server, saving a bus slot and the cost of an
additional SCSI adapter. Network managers, integrators and distributors
have applauded this effort to simplify Novell network administration and
reduce associated hardware costs.

SCSI compatibility issues eliminated

"For several years, users have been promised that SCSI would simplify their
lives by allowing them to attach many types of peripherals, such as disk,
tape, and optical drives to a single SCSI adapter. But incompatibility
between application software, operating systems, peripherals and SCSI
adapters have kept them from realizing that promise," says DPT marketing
director David Race. "Our recent work with Cheyenne is finally making that
promise a reality," he added. According to Race, automated tape backup
from the file server is the one add-on feature network administrators have
asked for most. "And we found ARCserve to be one of the best products in
that category," he noted.

"Compatibility is a major concern in the networking community today," says
Cheyenne Software's engineering vice-president ReyJane Huai. "The
ARCserve/SmartCache Plus solution not only provides high-performance tape
backup and hard disk support on a single card, it's a cost-effective,
easy-to-install answer for network integration... and it works."

SmartCache Plus is the only SCSI controller on the market that can be
