AGGRESSIVELY-PRICED ACERANYWARE K386S NOTEBOOK DELIVERS DESKTOP POWER FOR
$1,595 STREET PRICE

SAN JOSE, CA, June 16, 1992 -- The Acer Group today set a new standard for
affordable portable computing with the introduction of the AcerAnyWare
K386S notebook computer. With an anticipated street price of just $1,595,
the AcerAnyWare K386S features an 80MB hard disk drive and 2MB of memory
to handle Windows and other graphics applications. For the first time,
this product makes portable computing practical for sales automation,
managerial and professional productivity.

Until now, portable computers capable of delivering desktop performance
were priced well above equivalent desktop systems. The AcerAnyWare K386S
delivers full desktop functionality and power in a convenient notebook
package without the price penalty for portability.

"Corporate managers who have budgeted $2,000 for a desktop machine have a
new option," said Peter Janssen, vice president of sales and marketing,
consumer products. "With the AcerAnyWare K386S, they can get all the
benefits of a portable computer and still have more than enough money left
over to buy a color monitor and user the system as a desktop in the
office. The AcerAnyWare K386S represents a milestone in the industry for
price/performance in the under-$2,000 class of notebooks."

Desktop Power in a Portable Package

"Designed an manufactured by Acer the AcerAnyWare K386S incorporates the

liquid crystal display is 4 percent larger than the 8.5-inch display found
on other portables in this price class, and it provides full VGA color
emulation with 32 gray shades at 640 x 480 resolution.

o Simultaneous LCD and external color monitor display -- ideal for sales
demonstrations, presentations and classroom use.

o Large, expandable memory complement -- 2MB of RAM expandable to 8MB.

o Comfortable, full-size keyboard -- Separate function and scroll keys as

The advanced power-saving features of the AM386SXL low-power CPU and the
software-controlled LCD backlight dimming contribute to the 2.5- to 4-hour
anticipated battery-powered operating time, depending on usage. The
integrated low-battery warning system provides ample time to connect the
auto-switching AC adapter with its two-hour integrated, rapid battery
charger.
