RACAL-DATACOM WIDE AREA PERFORMANCE ANALYZER UPGRADE ADDS REAL-TIME
UPDATING DISPLAY, X.25 SUPPORT

August 25, 1993 -- SUNRISE, FL. -- Version 2.0 of the Racal-Datacom Wide
Area Network Performance Analyzer (WPA), formerly called CMS SPAN/2, will
be available in September.

The WPA offers network operators the ability to monitor traffic flow on
wide area networks, isolate response time problems, store statistical data
for trending, and use historical performance data to optimize networks.

This version offers a real-time updating display of current statistics for
single line data monitoring, including all clusters on that line and all
devices on each cluster. This allows customers to see which clusters and
devices are generating the traffic on the line so that network
modifications to improve efficiency can be made.

Another innovation in this version is support of the X.25 protocol. This
allows customers who use the X.25 protocol, very popular with Racal's
international customers and increasingly popular in American networks, in
their networks to realize the full benefit of the WPA product.

Through its windowing system with IBM's OS/2 and Presentation Manager, WPA
helps the user plan and optimize data networks by supplying statistical
data in the areas of line utilization and response time analysis. Through
the use of accumulated data, WPA enables network managers to determine
which lines and equipment are under utilized. Other benefits include the
elimination of guess work in wide area network usage and planning. It also
helps managers improve network efficiency by scheduling demanding
applications at non-conflicting times.

WPA is tailored to fit the individual needs of a customer's network through
user-defined down-line loaded parameters and protocol definitions. This
allows users to attain maximum benefit from WPA as their network
configuration and protocols supported change.

WPA can be used with any network using the SNA/SDLC, Bisync, X.25 and ISO
Poll Select protocols. It also can be used to report performance-type
alarms (for example, response time over threshold) to the Racal-Datacom
Communications Management Series (CMS) 400 element management component of
the Racal Management System.

List price is $7500 for the WPA software and one protocol (such as SNA/SDLC
or X.25). Hardware (a chassis with line monitoring cards) starts at $9000.
A personal computer (running OS/2 Version 2.0 or later) also is needed.

Racal-Datacom offers network solutions for the delivery and management of
information between local and remote locations. The company offers the
