Bristol Technology Inc. is pleased to announce Wind/U 1.3, a new release of
the company's Windows to UNIX portability toolkit with support for
Microsoft Visual C++ applications through the Microsoft Foundation Class
(MFC) Library version 2.0. Wind/U 1.3 enables Microsoft Windows and
Visual C++ applications to run as native UNIX/Motif applications. Wind/U
1.3 is available on Sun SPARC, HP700, and RS/6000 workstations, as well as
SVR4 on Intel platforms. The price for Wind/U 1.3 remains $9,950.

Like the Microsoft Windows API, Microsoft Visual C++ is quickly becoming
the standard object oriented application framework, and the fastest method
for creating Windows applications. Visual C++ generates the underlying
MFC code that runs on Windows and Windows NT. Wind/U 1.3 now makes it
possible for that same MFC code to run on UNIX/Motif, which makes
development for UNIX just as fast and easy as development for Windows and
Windows NT.

Key Enhancements

Wind/U 1.3 includes four major enhancements:

* Support for Visual C++ Through the Microsoft Foundation Class Library
2.0 - this support makes it possible for developers to build and run their
MFC applications on UNIX/Motif using their same MFC source code base.
Developers benefit by being able to ship a UNIX version of their
application in a fraction of the time it would take them to either hand
port their MFC application or re-write the application to a proprietary
portable API.

* Xprinter 2.1 - this enhancement is the integration of Bristol's Xprinter
printing library with the Wind/U graphical device interface. Xprinter 2.1
adds PCL5 support to the PostScript printing capabilities of Wind/U, as
well as rotatable font capability, and downloadable Type 1 Adobe fonts.
Developers benefit by being able to print easily from their applications
with robust font and printer handling.

*  Other Major Enhancements -

Dynamic Link Library (DLL) Improvement - this enhancement allows developers
to explicitly load DLLs. Wind/U DLLs hide developers from the underlying
system architecture dependencies of most Unix Systems by allowing them to
access libraries through the DLL APIs in Windows 3.1.

Common Dialog Improvement - this enhancement allows developers to provide
their users a similar look and feel in their Wind/U ported version of the
application as they do in their Windows version.

Pricing for Wind/U is $9,950, evaluations are available for a limited time
only at $250.
