Apple Bundles QuicKeys OSA Component

West Des Moines, IA, July 29,1993 - CE SOFTWARE HOLDINGS, INC. (NASDAQ/ NMS
Symbol: CESH) today disclosed that a component of the recently-announced
QuicKeys 3.0 will be bundled with the operating system for selected
Macintosh computers from Apple Computer Inc. QuicKeys 3.0 provides
scripting capability to virtually all applications, even those that are
currently non-scriptable.

"QuicKeys has become a critical part of the operating system offering for
the Quadra 840AV and Centris 660AV," said Ford Goodman, president of CE
Software. "We have developed an OSA (Open Scripting Architecture)
component for use in these machines in conjunction with Apple's new speech
and voice recognition system. QuicKeys joins AppleScript as technologies
by which voice can activate OSA scripts (including QuicKeys scripts) and
QuicKeys shortcuts on these Quadra and Centris computers. We believe that
the ability of QuicKeys to interact with non-scriptable applications
helped us win Apple' s support on computers which include voice
recognition.

Also bundled by Apple on these machines is QuicKeys Test Drive. Test Drive
allows users to experience simple methods of creating shortcuts, to
delegate complex and/or repetitive tasks to their computers.

"Users can gain significantly more productivity by utilizing a full version
of QuicKeys 3.0," said Donald Brown, CE Software vice president and
QuicKeys lead engineer. "The OSA component is but a small part of the
functionality of QuicKeys. Whereas scripting implies programming
capability and text input, QuicKeys 3.0 is designed specifically to ease
our customers' ability to delegate to the processing power on their
desktops. Rather than forcing them to learn a programming language,
QuicKeys guides users through the process of creating valuable
shortcuts."

Apple's speech recognition-enabled Macintosh computers, the Quadra 840AV
and Centris 660AV, allow QuicKeys 3.0 to add voice command as a new
trigger for any QuicKeys shortcut. A single click in the microphone column
on the main QuicKeys screen enables a QuicKeys shortcut to be
speech-activated.

QuicKeys 3.0 also includes a new extension, Speak Ease, developed to
interact with PlainTalk, Apple's new speech technology. Speak Ease is
designed to articulate text that a user has either predefined in a text
field or placed on the clipboard.

For users who prefer using Apple's Speech Macro Editor, QuicKeys 3.0 power
is accessible through the QuicKeys Script OSA-compatible scripting
language, included in the new release.

QuicKeys version 3.0 will be available August 16,1993 through distributors
and resellers.
