Austin-Based Architecture Firm to Develop National Instruments North Austin
Expansion Site

65 Acres to House Sales, Electronics Assembly, and Administrative
Operations

August 2, 1993 -- Austin, TX - National Instruments announced today that it
has selected RTG/Partners, Inc., an Austin-based architecture firm, to
develop a 125,000 sq ft expansion facility on the 65 acres National
Instruments recently purchased in north Austin. The terms of the agreement
were not disclosed.

Under the terms of the proposal, RTG will supply all architectural, civil,
mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering, and
landscape architecture services for the project. The first phase of the
site will include approximately 50,000 sq ft of office and administrative
areas and approximately 75,000 sq ft of assembly area and warehousing
space, including shipping/receiving areas and loading docks. National
Instruments intends to move its sales, assembly, and administrative
operations to the new facility from its headquarters now located in the
Millenium Building on Bridge Point Parkway in northwest Austin (on
Shepherd Mountain near the Loop 360 bridge and RR 2222). The 50,000 sq ft
of mezzanine space, currently reserved for sales and administrative
functions, can be easily redesigned to accommodate future needs.

Long-term plans for the property are to develop a corporate campus that
will house all Austin employees. National Instruments currently occupies
about 150,000 sq ft of owned and leased office and electronics assembly
space at two sites - on Shepherd Mountain and near the University of Texas
at Austin campus.

"We are extremely pleased to be selected to work on this expansion site
with National Instruments," said DeWitt Gayle, managing partner of
RTG/Partners. "We are confident that we can provide a first-class facility
that will accommodate the growth of National Instruments into the next
century."

In April, National Instruments announced its option to purchase
approximately 65 acres in north Austin from International Business
Machines (IBM), with American Realty Services serving as project manager.
In 1986, IBM donated right-of-way to the state of Texas for extension of
the Mopac Expressway (Loop 1) northwest of the IBM Austin site. Completion
of the highway project resulted in the triangular tract bordered on the
west by the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, on the southeast by Mopac, and
on the northeast by several small tracts of land that also directly border
Duval Road. Because the tract is not contiguous to the main IBM site, and
because the decision was made to expand east across Burnet Road, the land
was made available for sale. National Instruments closed on the property
on July 6, 1993.

National Instruments Announces 65-Acre Expansion Plans

April 19, 1993 -- Austin, TX - National Instruments announced today that it
has the option to purchase approximately 65 acres in Austin from
International Business Machines (IBM). The terms of the contract were
undisclosed.

The company also announced that it plans to construct and occupy a 125,000
sq ft facility there within a year for its sales, electronics assembly,
and administrative operations. Remaining personnel will move at a later
date. Long-term plans include building a corporate campus on the property
that will house all Austin employees. National Instruments currently
occupies about 150,000 sq ft of office and electronics assembly space in
Austin.

National Instruments is excited about its future expansion plans for the
IBM tract. "This tract was one of the few sites we evaluated that was
zoned properly for our needs and available at a price we could afford,"
comments Dr. lames Truchard, president and chairman of the board of the
company. "This property will give us the growing room we need to house the
employees and equipment necessary to realize our long-range business plan.
For the last several years, we've been growing at a faster rate than the
industry we serve -we are still maintaining our 40 percent annual sales
growth rate and we've added over 300 employees to our Austin staff in the
last two and one-half years. We anticipate we will continue enjoying this
steady growth rate."

National Instruments named American Realty Services, also of Austin, as
project manager for the expansion project. The two companies are currently
in the architectural selection process for the initial building.
