Business Audio, Communications, & Multimedia Software Available for Windows
OEMs

Two products target needs of systems vendors who wish to bundle advanced
telephony, fax/modem, data communications, and sound for mixed media
business applications and multimedia presentations. Software uses standard
APIs for Windows 3.1 compatibility, portability, and platform
independence.

Langhorne, PA August 10, 1993 -- Syncro Development Corporation today
announced the availability of two comprehensive multimedia and business
communications software solutions designed for the computer systems OEM.
Multimedia Connect and Multimedia Impact bring a range of telephone
answering machine, fax/modem, image compression, presentation, and sound
functions to any IBM PC compatible machine with a 386, 486, or Pentium
processor. Syncro's software adheres to industry standards and is
available with support for several leading coprocessor architectures,
including AT&T's DSP3210 multimedia solution as well as voice-enabled
fax/modem chipsets such as those from Cirrus Logic, EXAR, Rockwell
International, and Sierra Semiconductor. The Syncro software is targeted
at systems vendors who wish to bundle with their computer systems or
add-in boards low cost, high functionality software solutions for business
communications and multimedia presentations.

Multimedia Connect is a Windows communications solution with integrated fax
and voice capabilities. The software supports voice annotation and
playback, enabling multimedia fax documents. Multimedia Connect allows
remote workers with portable computers to access the home or office system
and retrieve and forward faxes and voice mail messages from a standard
touch tone phone.

Multimedia Impact is an authoring system that lets users combine still
images, graphics, motion video, CD-quality audio, sliding text, and
interactive buttons/hot spots into an on-screen business presentation. The
program supports industry standard audio and image compression algorithms
and file formats, including Video for Windows and works with any MCI audio
device such as Creative Labs' Soundblaster. Multimedia Impact users employ
a time line to position screen and audio elements in an intuitive manner
and includes a rich set of backgrounds and transition effects.

According to Dale Van Aken, President of Syncro, "These two packages are
the first integrated multimedia software products to target business
applications. Syncro is marketing them to the computer OEMs in order to
speed the integration with OEM-specific hardware systems and to make
voice, fax, audio, and telephony functions bullet-proof for the end
user."

Both Syncro products can take advantage of the performance and
functionality available with AT&T's DSP3210 and VCOS operating system. The
DSP3210 chip provides the performance levels demanded by real time desktop
communications and multimedia applications. The VCOS operating system
provides multitasking capabilities and a comprehensive set of development
tools. The VCOS Multimedia Module Library (MML) is a suite of high level
DSP routines for fax/modem/telephony, voice and sound compression, and
other business audio, voice, and multimedia functions.

Multimedia Connect and Multimedia Impact can both use a single DSP3210 in a
computer system to provide the fax/modem and voice and sound
compression/decompression functions, saving users the investment in a
separate modem and sound board. The DSP chip is general purpose, and can
also perform speech recognition and imaging functions for many
applications.

Other versions of Multimedia Connect are available for other fax/voice
chipsets. Similarly, a version of Multimedia Impact without image and
audio decompression functions is available from Syncro for non-DSP
equipped sound boards. The software also supports the IBM/Intel DVI
technology and other compatible MCI devices.

According to Denis Regimbal, AT&T's DSP Multimedia Marketing Manager,
"Multimedia Connect and Multimedia Impact are perfect examples of how the
DSP3210 and VCOS solution can provide high performance, broad
functionality, and multitasking in a PC/Windows system. The developers at
Syncro have taken our multitasking operating system and multimedia
libraries and molded an ideal, extensible package for the systems OEM. In
the end, solutions such as these, which meet industry standards, will
insure the compatibility that end users require and will speed the
adoption of multimedia business applications."

Multimedia Connect and Multimedia Impact are available immediately for
integration by OEM accounts into their specific product lines. Syncro's
volume discounts can bring the license price down to just a few dollars
per copy.

Syncro Development Corp. specializes in multimedia, business audio, and
integrated mail/communications software for desktop applications. Syncro
products are aimed at improving the productivity of office applications by
the use of mixed media data. Syncro is an early adopter of AT&T's VCOS
operating system solution for high performance, real time, multitasking
applications.
