Apple USA Reduces Price of PowerBook Duo, Macintosh Centris 650 and Quadra
800 Computers

Apple continues aggressive price cutting to build sales momentum

CAMPBELL, California--August 3, 1993--Supporting its ongoing strategy to
accelerate sales momentum for its Macintosh personal computers through
more competitive pricing, Apple Computer, Inc. today announced a reduction
in the price of its award-winning Apple PowerBook Duo computers, the Apple
Macintosh Centris 650 and the Apple Macintosh Quadra 800 computers in the
United States.

Effective immediately, the U.S. suggested retail prices (SRPs) of the Apple
PowerBook Duo 210 and 230, Macintosh Centris 650 and Macintosh Quadra 800
computers have been reduced by as much as 33 percent.

"Unit shipments of our Macintosh products have picked up significantly
since we began implementing our new pricing strategy," said Bob Puette,
president of Apple USA. "And in the last quarter, supply has caught up
with the demand, enabling us to lower price and put the products within
the reach of more users. We plan to continue with this winning strategy
and bring our superior technology to even more people."

The price reduction follows a series of strategic pricing actions taken by
Apple in recent months that are aimed at increasing market share. Since
April, 1993, Apple has reduced prices on a number of products, including
the Apple PowerBook, the Apple Color Printer, the Apple Personal
LaserWriter NTR, the Macintosh Quadra 950, and the Apple Workgroup Server
95.
