NETWORK DIMENSIONS ANNOUNCES GRAFBASE

July 1993 - San Jose, CA - Network Dimensions, Inc., announced today the
availability of GrafBASE, a versatile software package for visual display
and documentation of communication networks. While GrafBASE is extremely
user friendly, its numerous features give the user flexibility and control
in accessing, maintaining, updating, and presenting network information
from their personal desktop computers. GrafBASE runs under Microsoft
Windows 3.x on an IBM PC compatible desktop computer. It provides full
color visual displays of network topologies that span the world down to a
computer room. In addition, it allows the user to create and easily access
from a single application, an extensive database of information on nodes
and links of the network.

GrafBASE is a one-of-a-kind graphical database for network information and
configuration management. Through multiple nested views of network and
equipment layouts, users can manage and access configuration information
for interconnected world-wide networks (WANs), metropolitan-area-networks
(MANs), campus networks or local-area-networks (LANs). Designed
specifically for the needs of the communications network industry,
GrafBASE is used to create network presentations and reports, consolidate
and manage network data, configure and track network configurations.

It provides the following tools to simplify a network user's tasks, while
providing the kind of functionality and flexibility, in a PC application,
usually found only in expensive high-end work station based applications:

- Ability to define, pick and place icon representations of network devices
on a display screen and draw connections between these icons to show
network topology

- Ability to overlay the network topology on geographical maps of the world
and its countries, or even street level maps

- Ability to overlay the network topology on bit-mapped images (BMP) or CAD
derived DXF images

- Ability to hierarchically relate multiple views for easy navigation of
complex topologies.

- Ability to store this information in an internal data base and display
the topology and reports with a point and click interface

- Ability to import and export network information through a text file

- Ability to send real-time alarm information for color coded display, by
letting GrafBASE poll an alarm log text file

In addition to end-users of the application, GrafBASE is available to OEM's
who wish to incorporate GrafBASE as a graphical front-end for their
Windows or OS/2 based network management applications. Existing Windows
based management software can be easily integrated with GrafBASE as a
Dynamic Linked Library (DLL). The GrafBASE tool-kit maximizes the use of
existing vendor specific network management software thus saving
development time and cost.

Ranjana Sharma, President of Network Dimensions, states, "GrafBASE provides
a remarkable price/performance advantage, plus simplicity and flexibility
that is inherent in a PC based application which is easily and readily
available at a user's desktop. GrafBASE replaces disparate graphics,
drawing, and database applications, by consolidating these functions
specifically for the needs of the networking professional."

GrafBASE is priced at $750 with options for geographical map data, and
geo-coded area code/prefix data. Optional data, includes extensive
geographical maps from worldwide countries to street level maps of USA
counties. Points can be placed on maps by latitude/longitude coordinates.
An optional built in database provides automatic conversion of phone
numbers to an on-screen geographical location.

GrafBASE is available directly from Network Dimensions, Inc.. Users can
obtain a free GrafBASE demonstration disk for an overview of the graphics
and features.
