RASTEREX Releases their Microsoft Windows 3.1 Version of Document
Management Solution RxEDM 

Highlighting Workflow and Conversion Capabilities

May 26, 1993 -- Atlanta--Expert Graphics, Inc., the sole distributor of
RASTEREX products in the U.S. and Canada, is pleased to announce the
porting of RxEDM, RASTEREXs Engineering Document Solution, to Microsoft
Windows 3.1.

RxEDM for Windows is a complete modular document management solution
comprised of five separate components all intrinsically linked within
Windows. RxEDM for Windows integrates fast document/drawing retrieval and
workflow distribution through a database linked to a multiple-format
viewing and redlining tool. With RxEDM for Windows, users have full raster
and vector editing and conversion capabilities, as well as the ability to
add links to CAD or scanned drawings, enabling associated documents to be
retrieved concurrently with any drawing for viewing and mark Windows works
with any network and on all PC platforms that support Windows. Application
areas include manufacturing, architecture and construction, utilities,
government, facilities management, I and project management. The
capability of each module is described below.

RxIndex for Windows V 1.0, the fully customizable database module of RxEDM,
offers an object-oriented Windows screen paint program, DDE support, and
multi-level supervisor control. RxIndex for Windows also enables users to
retrieve a full color image, scanned raster file, vector file or document
file (including Word, WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3, Excel etc...). When the
user makes a selection, a pop-up view of the files within the selection
set appears in a small window in the screen giving the user a fast preview
of the files to better determine which file to select. The user is then
able to make redlining comments to the retrieved file using RxHighlight
tor Windows (described below). Additionally. the user can start up any
other Windows application (e.g. AutoCAD) with that retrieved file.

RxHighlight for Windows V 1.0 is a fully featured drawing, document and
image view & redline product, handling most files in their native format
(e.g. DWG, DGN, DXF, TIFF CGM, RLC, DOC, WP, WKS, etc...). The key to
RxHighlight's capabilities is the integration of a true workflow
distribution mechanism using electronic circulation slips. The circulation
slip allows any user to e-mail a marked-up document to selected users
within pre-defined workgroups. File and Feature access is controlled
through passwords and file encryption procedures. Comments can be typed
directly on the screen or in separate letters which are show as envelopes
on the screen. When an envelope is selected, the comments are then
revealed.

RxSpotlight for Windows V 1.0, the raster editing module, controls user
access and uses intelligent raster editing tools for fast clean-up of
scanned drawings for archiving. RxSpotlight for Windows also has the
ability to erase, rotate and clean-up scanned files at the pixel level,
and includes such tools as trim, de-skew and de-speckle. Additional tools
available in the Windows version of RxSpotlight for improved image quality
and editing include:

warping--the ability to twist an image according to a set of user specified
reference points. 

Line cleaning--of both horizontal and vertical lines that typically appear
ragged after a scanning process. 

clip--clip out rectangular regions and save them in the Windows clipboard
or a separate file name.

RxAutoIcon for Windows V 2.0 is an ADI driver for AutoCAD Release 12 for
Windows which adds real-time performance and raster bitmap capabilities.
Scanned paper drawings and full color images can be read into AutoCAD,
used as a template for a new drawing with RxAutoIcon for Windows'
Background Drawing function, and then plotted. RxAutoIcon for Windows
supports overlay and hybrid plotting for a number of files including: BMP,
DIB, GIF, PCX. RLE. TIFF. TARGA and RLC. Additionally, RxAutoIcon for
Windows significantly accelerates the overall vector performance of
AutoCAD for Windows, adds a number of unique display features, and is
optimized for most popular graphics boards.

RxVectory for Windows V 3.0 is the automatic raster-to-vector conversion
module with a full graphical interface, which does not require any
interaction from the user during the vectorization process. A complete
ensemble of tools provides pre-process user control to achieve maximum
recognition including the ability to trim or thicken raster objects one
pixel at a time, separate partially merged lines, fill-in small holes and
cut peaks, as well as performing speckle removal. Additional pre-process
tools include:

* automatic object recognition--including text & dimension 
  line identification. 
* extended area selection--select work area or mask out text 
  or table regions that you do not want to vectorize. 
* image alignment--rotates the drawing for horizontal or vertical
  alignment. 
* more raster editing features--drawing and erasure tools for
  pre-process clean-up.

Post processing features allow clean line advancing and global entity
adjustments.
