PARASTAT 2.0 NOW AVAILABLE FOR BORLAND'S PARADOX 4.0
New Version Enhances Statistical Analysis of Paradox Data

SAN DIEGO, CA -- May 17, 1993 -- FMS, Inc. (Financial Modeling Specialists,
Inc.) announced at the Borland International Conference that ParaStat 2.0,
a major upgrade to the popular Paradox add-on statistics program, is
shipping. ParaStat is available from FMS and is specifically designed for
Borland's Paradox PC relational database.

ParaStat performs statistical analysis on data stored in Paradox tables.
Features include field analysis such as standard deviation, variance,
percentiles, frequency distribution, and confidence intervals. Group
analysis including two sample t-Test and ANOVA, field comparison for
correlation, R-Square, covariance and paired t-Test, regressions (simple,
multiple and polynomial), cross-tabulation with Chi-Square, and
probability evaluation of test values are also featured in ParaStat 2.0.

Paradox 4.0, a major upgrade to Borland's critically acclaimed PC-based
relational database, incorporates tremendous speed and power gains, a
windows-like user interface, enhanced network performance and expanded
Paradox Application Language, PAL. Paradox is ideal for a wide range of
users from end users to applications developers.

PAL, is a powerful, high level procedural language that lets users create
sophisticated applications quickly. New features let users build custom
applications that incorporate mouse control, pull-down and pop-up menus,
dialog boxes with push buttons, check boxes, radio buttons and pick
lists.

ParaStat runs from within Paradox and uses Turbo Pascal and the Paradox
Engine to perform the intensive statistical analysis. ParaStat is entirely
menu driven with pint and choose options. Users select tables and fields
similar to a Paradox query. All results are returned in Paradox tables
just like the ANSWER table of a query. This gives Paradox users full
control over the results, including the ability to sort and query for
specific data, and merge data into reports or graphs. PAL programmers can
even add ParaStat features within their applications. ParaStat provides
full support for Paradox 4.0, and supports Paradox versions 3.0 and 3.5.

"ParaStat 2.0 extends Paradox's already powerful query features," said
Daniel Klaussen, Paradox product manager for Borland. "It is extremely
valuable to those needing to further analyze their Paradox data."

ParaStat 2.0 can now analyze up to 50 fields simultaneously. Performance
has been greatly enhanced by using Paradox Engine, 3.0. ParaStat 2.0 also
supports Paradox 4.0's standard mode interface with pull-down menus,
dialog boxes, speedbars, scrollbars and full mouse support. A new user
manual is also available.

"ParaStat 2.0 incorporates features and enhancements requested by our
users," said Luke Chung, president of FMS. "ParaStat 2.0's improved speed
and ability to analyze more data at once, makes it the most powerful data
analysis tool available for Paradox. With full support of Paradox 4.0's
new user interface, ParaStat is easier than ever to use."
