New Scientific and Engineering Software Products Unveiled

Announcements Include Four Windows NT Products, Upgrade to LabVIEW
Graphical Software, and Tools for Easier, Cheaper Distribution of
Third-Party Add-Ons

May 24, 1993 -- Atlanta, GA - National Instruments announced today at
COMDEX/Windows World several software products that end-users, systems
integrators, and VARs can combine with PCs and workstations to create
custom instrumentation systems. These systems are used by engineers and
scientists in applications such as scientific research,
manufacturing/industrial automation, and automated testing.

National Instruments unveiled four Microsoft Windows' NT software products
- LabVIEW, its general-purpose graphical programming tool for
instrumentation, and its NI-488.2M, NI-DAQ, and NI-VXI driver software for
controlling its instrumentation hardware. The company also announced
LabVIEW Version 3.0 - packed with new features for users of Windows 3.1
PCs, Macintosh computers, and Sun SPARCstations; the new LabVIEW
Application Builder; and the LabVIEW Run-Time System. Complete details,
including price and availability, on these new products are found in the
enclosed news releases.

LabVIEW is a robust, multifaceted product that engineers and scientists
have used since 1986 to simplify instrumentation system development. With
LabVIEW, users graphically build software modules, called virtual
instruments (VIs), with icons instead of writing text-based programs.
Users can build custom user interfaces and control panels; acquire data
from thousands of programmable instruments (GPIB, VXI, and RS-232) and the
company's PC data acquisition (DAQ) and signal conditioning hardware; and
perform data analysis, including routines ranging from simple statistics
to digital signal processing (DSP), with or without the company's DSP
accelerator hardware.
