Gupta Announces Special Pricing Plans Providing Major Cost Benefits For
Large Client-Server Installations

Menlo Park, Calif., April 6,1993--Gupta Corporation is introducing several
new pricing plans for its client-server products designed to offer
significant cost benefits to companies installing enterprise-wide
client-server systems. In addition, Gupta is introducing the Gupta
Enterprise Kits, one-stop PC client-server starter packages that include
all of the software products needed to implement integrated
enterprise-wide client-server applications on all of the popular PC
platforms, including connectivity to data in mini and mainframe
computers.

The new pricing plans include server-based router pricing for Gupta
SQLRouter connectivity software and multi-copy pricing for Gupta's SQLBase
single-user engine. The new pricing is particularly advantageous for
companies installing decision-support client-server systems on a
departmental or company-wide basis.

Gupta Enterprise Kits. With its family of client-server products, Gupta is
unique in being able to offer a one-stop software solution for companies
wanting to install enterprise-wide client-server systems. Gupta's
Enterprise Kits offer a seamless and cost-effective solution that solves
the problems associated configuring a system with front-end tools,
back-end servers and connectivity products from different vendors.

Each Gupta Enterprise Kit includes: five copies of the Corporate Edition of
Gupta SQLWindows, a powerful graphical application development system for
Microsoft Windows, including TeamWindows, a dictionary-driven application
repository that manages development by teams of programmers; Gupta Quest,
a graphical data access, query and reporting tool for end users; Gupta
SQLBase, a full-function, multi-user relational database engine running
under DOS, Windows, OS/2, UNIX and NetWare (as a NetWare Loadable Module);
and the appropriate gateway or router from Gupta's SQLNetwork family of
connectivity products providing access from PCs to data on a wide choice
of mini and mainframe computers, including IBM's DB/2, AS/400 and OS/2
Database Manager, Btrieve, Oracle, Sybase, SQLServer, Informix, and
Hewlett-Packard ALLBASE/SQL and TurboIMAGE.

Enterprise Kit Pricing. Gupta Enterprise Kits are priced from $40,000.00
for a five-user kit for connecting to Oracle. Sybase and Informix and $45
000.00 for connecting to Gupta SQLBase Server to $75,000.00 for connecting
to DB2. Each additional copy of SQLWindows (Corporate Edition, with
TeamWindows) is priced at $3000.00 per seat.

All Enterprise Kits include a one week on-site training class, SQLWindows,
SQLBase and SQLSystem training videos from Gupta's Video Classroom series
and Gupta's premier service and support program: STAR Service, which
provides two-hour response to phone calls, a designated Gupta service
representative, access to senior technical support personnel, and License
Subscription Service (LSS), which includes maintenance releases, the
on-line bulletin board, and upgrade discounts.

Server-based router pricing. Router pricing is no longer an issue for
enterprise installations supporting many clients. For $1595.00 per server,
Gupta's new server-based router pricing allows users to connect an
unlimited number of SQLWindows clients to one server, using SQLRouter for
AS/400, Oracle, Sybase or Informix. For example, a site supporting 150
clients accessing Oracle can now purchase the routers it needs for that
server for $1595.00, instead of at the previous price of $250.00 per
client. Individual routers are still available at $250.00.

Multi-copy SQLBase engine pricing. Gupta's new multi-copy pricing for
single-user SQLBase Engine for DOS, Windows and OS/2, and SQLBase Server
for Windows saves companies as much as half the cost of installing SQLBase
on large enterprise systems. The 20-copy pack of SQLBase Engine for OS/2,
DOS or Windows is priced at $4000.00; a five-pack version is also
available for $1500.00. The complete package includes SQLBase Engine for
five or 20 users; SQLTalk, a character or graphically-based interactive
data administration tool; SQLRouter software for connecting to DOS,
Windows and OS/2; and Gupta's SQL/API application programming interface to
connect to applications built in C. Customers may still purchase an
individual copy of a Gupta single-user SQLBase Engine for $395.00.

The 20-copy pack of the multi-tasking SQLBase Server for Windows is priced
at $6000.00; the five-pack version is $2500.00. Individual copies are
available at $595.00.
