FOUNDATION WINS QUALITY AWARD FOR NEXT-GENERATION CLIENT/SERVER DEVELOPMENT
PRODUCT

Named "Best of the Best for Customer Involvement In Development Process

SAN FRANCISCO, May 4, 1993 - FOUNDATION, an Andersen Consulting software
organization, has won the "Best of the Best" award from the Quality
Assurance Institute (QAI). FOUNDATION won the award for customer
involvement in the development of the Rapid Application Builder portion of
the next generation FOUNDATION for Cooperative Processing (FCP), its new
client/server development product introduced today at DB Expo.

"We were impressed with FOUNDATlON's involvement of customers early in the
development of the next-generation of FCP," said Mr. William E. Perry,
Executive Director of OAI. "They not only obtained valuable customer input
for FCP, but also developed an innovative process that encourages customer
participation in future product development projects."

FCP offers major enhancements that ease and accelerate the process for
building client/server systems that connect the full range of software,
network and hardware environments across a department or organization. A
crucial feature of the new product is the Rapid Application Builder, which
offers a revolutionary approach that speeds client/server development and
helps bring the design of the system into line with end-user requirements,
thus simplifying and shortening the systems development process.

The Rapid Application Builder uses simple point-and-click techniques
enabling developers to build pilot client/server applications that
function as live applications and that can be delivered as compiled code
and stored in the repository. In this way, not only does the pilot
application automatically become part of the completed system, it is also
available for reuse in future systems.

"Building FCP, FOUNDATION has worked with numerous MIS organizations to
enhance the effectiveness of our systems development products," said Kerry
Stover, Director of Product Management, FOUNDATION. "This award reflects
our dedication to respond to our customers' needs with the delivery of
high-quality, integrated solutions."

The Quality Assurance Institute was formed more than 10 years ago to
provide leadership to the information technology industry in improving
quality and productivity. The QAI's objectives are to recognize
organizations for product excellence and to find the best practices that
other members can utilize as product development models.

FOUNDATION introduced its initial client/server development product,
FOUNDATION for Cooperative Processing, in April 1991. The product is being
used in strategic client/server development projects by more than 2,800
developers at more than 70 companies worldwide, including Mortgage
Guaranty Insurance Corporation, Sprint Corporation, the State of North
Carolina and British Columbia Gas.
