QED: Quick Easy Disk -- PS/2 Users Gain More Storage With Sigma Data's New
Hard-Drive Upgrade!

Only a few years ago, the IBM PS/2 was a state-of-the-art computer. But,
with today's ever-improving technology and corresponding requirements of
operating systems and software, the life span of the PS/2 would appear to
have been severely shortened, or so we thought...

Sigma Data has come to the rescue of PS/2 users by offering a
cost-effective, solution in their latest product line. The QED, or Quick
Easy Disk drive system, breathes new life into your IBM PS/2 Models 50*,
50z, 60*, 70 and 80* computers by providing additional storage and speed.

An internally-mounted IDE disk drive and controller combination, the QED
operates as a "second" hard drive and unlocks a whole new world of
valuable disk space. The QED unleashes speed that potentially doubles
overall performance.

According to Sigma Data Technical Support Manager, Skip Johnson, "The QED
offers several benefits to PS/2 users, among them quick and easy
installation, faster access to programs and data, and additional storage.
What's more, there is no need to tamper with your original drive. It
remains the main boot device."

As the economy continues to struggle, many corporations are opting for
low-cost upgrade solutions over the high-cost of a new machine. When
savings are realized through upgrading, purchasers become heroes.

Charles Burry, a PC/LAN Administrator and Programmer Analyst/V for US
Sprint, recently purchased QED/70s for some Model 70s with 60Mb hard
drives.

Burry says, "In the past, we were using a SCSI solution that required a
slot. The QED/70 is two-thirds the cost of the SCSI solution and does not
require a slot. We decided to purchase some QED/70s after we had already
put in a request for a new machine to run OS/2 and OS/2-based Case tools.
With the QED/70, we saved ourselves the purchase of a new machine!"

Furthermore, Burry affirms that the Quick Easy Disk lives up to its name.
"It was one of the easiest installs of a hardware product since Sigma
Data's processor upgrades. It took fifteen minutes from the time I opened
the box to the time I was up and running," says Burry.

As Burry mentions, Sigma Data's processor upgrades from Hypertec are also a
breeze to install. The 486DX/33 CPU upgrade complements the QED/70 to
provide a total no-slot upgrade solution for the PS/2 Model 70 com

* Please note: The QED/68 for Models 50, 60, and 80 requires a microchannel
expansion slot for installation.
