Gupta Signs IBM, Price Waterhouse, Grant Thornton And Procom To Its New
National Consulting Partner Program

Menlo Park, Calif., March 9, 1993-- Gupta Corporation has established a
National Consulting Partner (NCP) program to develop alliances with
professional services organizations providing computer consulting services
to the Fortune 1000, E 3 9500 and has initially signed four major
Consulting Partners: Grant Thornton, the IBM Consulting Group, Price
Waterhouse and Procom.

Gupta designed the NCP program to work closely with major consulting
companies in identifying opportunities and providing solutions in the
client-server marketplace. Gupta contributes a family of products
recognized as market leaders and proven client-server solutions, as well
as high level technical support. NCP participants bring consulting
expertise in major corporate and government markets. Together, Gupta and
NCP participants will assist clients in rightsizing their computer
infrastructures by facilitating the migration to open systems and
expanding the use of graphical user interfaces in network computing.

"Consulting companies are finding a tremendous opportunity for
client/server training, installation and support as the
downsizing/rightsizing trend continues to grow at major corporations,"
said James Hermann, Gupta's Vice President, Channel and Marketing Sales.
"Working together with these topnotch consulting partners, we can offer
corporate customers a total client-server solutions approach that combines
the consulting and training expertise brought by our partners with Gupta's
premier product line and excellent technical support."

David Dodge, Practice Leader, the IBM Consulting Group, said, "As we design
and build client-server applications for companies around the world, we
recommend and use the best tools and products the market has to offer. Our
association with Gupta Corporation, a premier company in this field,
demonstrates our commitment to provide the very best to IBM clients."

W. Dale Young, Managing Partner, Open Systems Integration for Price
Waterhouse, said, "The demand for powerful, GUI-based development tools
continues to grow. Gupta provided one of the earliest solutions for the
emerging client-server environment. Leveraging Gupta's tools with Price
Waterhouse's consulting and integration expertise has proven to be
valuable to many of our clients."

Frank McCrea, President of Procom, said, "Business applications in a
client-server environment require the rigor of an application methodology
and the functionality of a robust technology. The design decisions of
today should leave open the options of tomorrow. The Gupta SQL System has
provided our clients with the flexibility, the portability and the
expandability they require."

Gupta Corporation, founded in 1984, is the leading vendor of client-server
database software for PC networks. Gupta's products are widely used by
major corporations to downsize/rightsize their applications to PC LANs.

Gupta's SQLBase Server pioneered the market for PC client-server databases,
and continues to be the only such database designed expressly for
networked PCs. The NLM version recently established a new performance
standard for PC client-server databases. SQLWindows has been instrumental
in the growth of applications developed for client/server networks. Quest
is a data access, query and reporting tool for end-users, and SQLNetwork
is a family of software products (SQLGateway and SQLRouter) for connecting
Gupta tools and servers to other server data sources including DB2,
ORACLE, Sybase and Microsoft SOL Server, Informix, AS/400 Database,
HP/ALLBASE and HP/TurboIMAGE, Gcom SUPRA Server and others.
