Gupta Announces Support For NetWare 4.0

Menlo Park, Calif., March 10,1993 -- In conjunction with Novell's NetWare
4.0 announcement today, Gupta Corporation is announcing that its SQL
System for NetWare client-server product line will support NetWare 4.0.

Gupta's SQL System for NetWare products, all of which have been
NetWare-optimized, include SQLBase for NetWare Systems (available as a
NetWare Loadable Module) database back-end, Gupta SQLWindows and Quest
front-end tools, and SQLGateway/APPC, which runs as an NLM to connect
FACSIMILE 415-321 5471 database applications running on NetWare to IBM
DB2. All currently support NetWare v3.11, and these versions will also
support NetWare 4.0 in the future. Delivery dates for versions optimized
to take advantage of the new features of NetWare 4.0 are not yet
available. The NetWare 4.0 version of Gupta SQLBase Server NLM will run in
ring 3 or ring 0. It will also support NetWare 4.0 features such as
directory services, localization and NCP extensions.

Gupta's NetWare product line is currently available through Novell sales
channels packaged in Novell-red boxes through a joint distribution
agreement reached between Novell and Gupta in June, 1992. Since that time,
both companies continue to engage in joint marketing and sales programs to
promote Gupta as the premier product line for NetWare environments, and
NetWare as the leading network for client-server. Gupta and Novell are
currently co-sponsoring, along with Gupta Business Partners, a series of
educational sales seminars throughout the country for companies interested
in exploring client-server solutions. Novell, Inc. holds a 19% equity
position in Gupta from investments dating back to 1990.

Gupta SQLBase for NetWare Systems is a high performance SQL database server
optimized for graphical environments on NetWare. Available as a NetWare
Loadable Module (NLM), SQLBase can directly access NetWare's functions and
resources, and takes advantage of NetWare's 32-bit environment to enhance
performance. SQLBase NLM has set the performance standard for PC
client-server databases. Using Gupta SQLGateway/APPC, SQLBase users can
connect to data on IBM DB/2 mainframes.

SQLWindows for NetWare Systems provides programmers with the leading
frontend client-server application development tool for creating
Windows-optimized applications running on NetWare. Quest for NetWare
Systems gives end-users the ability to access and query information in the
database and to generate their own reports.

Gupta Corporation, founded in 1984, is the leading vendor of client-server
database software for PC networks. Gupta's products are widely used by
major corporations to downsize/rightsize their applications to PC LANs.

Gupta's SQLBase Server pioneered the market for PC client-server databases,
and continues to be the only such database designed expressly for
networked PCs. The NLM version recently established a new performance
standard for PC client-server databases. SQLWindows has been instrumental
in the growth of applications developed for client/server networks. Quest
is a data access, query and reporting tool for end-users, and SQLNetwork
is a family of software products (SQLGateway and SQLRouter) for connecting
Gupta tools and servers to other server data sources including DB2,
ORACLE, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, AS/400 Database,
HP/ALLBASE and HP/TurboIMAGE, Cincom SUPRA Server and others.
