May 1, 1993 -- At last! An intelligent alternative to mindless reflex
games! Designed for the whole family (ages 6 to 106) they are at the same
time fun, entertaining and educational! GIC-Software has released the
first of a series of new Interactive Computer Word Games for single and
multi-player participation. Designed for the IBM 386 and higher
compatibles, the game package contains six different games with almost
limitless variations. These challenging games are different each time
they're played!

Dynamic and interactive, the games use the familiar word grid and black
squares. The players can enter any word of their choice, and the black
squares can either be selected to be generated by the computer in a random
pattern before the game, or placed on the playing grid by each player as
the game is played. Entering the black squares during the game adds a new
dimension, since players can use the black squares to 'block' an apparent
next word entry by the opponent! The 'opponent' can either be the computer
playing against a single player, or one player against another, or even up
to four players - or teams - can interactively play together in the same
game! These games combine the challenge of Crosswords, the word forming of
Scrabble and the strategy of Backgammon!

Players can customize their games in several ways, (1) by selecting the
number of players in the game, (2) the way the game is won (points or last
word), (3) whether to have computer generated, or player inserted black
squares, (4) the number of words in the game (which also affects the game
length) and (5) whether or not to use the self-contained electronic list
of over 63,000 words. Each letter of a word entered is worth one or more
points, with bonus points being awarded for words over a certain length.
Side Words can be formed, and the playing grid can also be shifted (Field
Shifts), earning extra points. The games can even be saved to be finished
at a later time! Those who like the challenge of word games risk being
hooked on Interactive Computer Crosswords.
