Shapeware Offers Visio to Education Market

SEATTLE--May 12, 1993--Shapeware Corporation today announced Academic
Visio, an educational version of its award-winning, breakthrough drawing
and diagramming program. Academic Visio is a fully functional program
designed to address the specific needs of users within the academic
market.

"We are pleased to be offering educators and students a product that makes
it easy to incorporate drawing into everyday activities within an
educational setting," said Jeremy Jaech, Shapeware president. "Academic
Visio provides students, faculty and administrators the ability to
communicate graphically without having to learn the complicated tools used
by graphics professionals and artists. Academic Visio should quickly
become an often used, much needed program on educators desktops."

Academic Visio includes 17 stencils of ready-made shapes, specific to
different tasks (e.g., flowcharts, marketing diagrams, engineering
schematics, space plans) that users simply drag and drop onto the drawing
area to create their drawings. Because Visio's basic drawing process is
the same regardless of the actual shape the individual selects, users can
cut training time--once they perform one task with Visio, they can perform
them all.

In addition, Shapeware offers 17 Visio Shapes, a line of add-on stencil
products that extend the number and types of drawings available to users
of Visio. The extensive collection of shapes are designed for specialized
drawing needs commonly found in an educational institution (e.g.,
chemistry, software programming, electrical engineering, mechanical
engineering, biotechnology/medicine, kids, landscape planning,). Shapeware
expects more shapes for the Visio drawing platform to appear on a regular
basis. Visio runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1.
