GUPTA FRONT-END TOOLS TO RUN THROUGH MICRO DECISIONWARE DATABASE GATEWAY

SAN FRANCISCO - May 4, 1993 - Micro Decisionware, Inc. (MDI) announced
today that it has signed an agreement with Gupta Corporation to provide
interoperability between Gupta's SQLWindows and Quest front-end tools, and
Micro Decisionware's Database Gateway. Interoperability with MDI's
Database Gateway will provide SQLWindows and Quest users with additional
functionality in the areas of data distribution and warehousing. This new
working relationship demonstrates Gupta's and MDI's commitment to openness
and interoperability in client/server environments.

MDI's ISV Certification Program Protects Application Investments

"Micro Decisionware has been an industry leader in forging working
relationships with ISVs and major players such as Microsoft and IBM," said
MDI president Michael H. Forster. "Currently, 58 front-end applications
are certified to run through MDI's Database Gateway for DB2. This
guarantees corporations that their existing investments in popular
applications will be protected, and that they will have continued
flexibility and options as their information architectures evolve. The
certification of Gupta's SQLWindows and Quest products is significant and
will benefit both Gupta and MDI customers."

"This announcement is directly in line with our strategy of being the open
and interoperable client-server database systems company," said Reed
Taussig, Senior Vice President, The Americas, Gupta Corporation. "We are
pleased to explore avenues of opportunity making the benefits of Gupta's
graphical front-end tools, SQLWindows and Quest, available to Micro
Decisionware's customers."

Gupta and MDI expect to deliver this interoperability to their respective
customers in late 1993.
