3,000 Developers To Attend Apple Worldwide Developers Conference

CUPERTINO, California--May 7, 1993--Apple Computer, Inc. will host its
annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference next week in San Jose, Calif.
More than 3,000 third-party software application and hardware developers
from around the world are expected to attend the weeklong conference to
hear about Apple's business and technology directions, receive in-depth
technical information on current and upcoming technologies, and learn
about development opportunities in a variety of emerging markets.

"The Worldwide Developers Conference is a tremendous forum to exchange
information with our developer business partners," said Kirk Loevner, vice
president of the Apple Developer Group. "Our developers learn first hand
about our vision of the future, and Apple gets invaluable feedback that
helps shape that future to ensure our mutual success."

WWDC attendees will participate in more than 100 technology presentations
and panel discussions throughout the week. Conference keynotes will
include strategic overviews of Apple's business directions and strategies
from John Sculley, Apple's chairman, chief executive officer, and chief
technology officer; and from top executives from Apple product and
marketing divisions. Conference sessions are divided into four main
tracks: The Macintosh Desktop, Servers and Services, Mobile Computing, and
Tools and Integration.

Major conference topics include Apple's overall technology framework;
Macintosh on PowerPC; collaborative, scripting, and imaging extensions to
System 7; cross-platform development tools; client/server application
development; and development opportunities in enterprise, mobile, and
multimedia markets.

To make it easy for developers to begin learning about and working with
technologies they will hear about during the conference, Apple will
distribute the WWDC '93 New Technologies CD to all registered conference
attendees. The CD contains materials for more than 15 software
technologies, tools, and documentation, ranging from prerelease to final
versions.

The WWDC '93 New Technologies CD contents include the first major
prerelease version of QuickDraw GX, Apple's new imaging technology for
color publishing; an updated prerelease version of AOCE (Apple Open
Collaboration Environment), the platform for integrated electronic
communications, workgroup and workflow applications; AppleScript, the
foundation for custom software solutions; prerelease text-to-speech
software; preliminary Macintosh-on-PowerPC documentation; the Japanese
Language Kit, software enabling customers to use Japanese characters on
their non-Japanese systems; an electronic handbook for Macintosh games
developers, and more.

The latest releases of QuickTime and QuickTime for Windows software are
also provided on the CD by using a hybrid CD format, allowing the CD to be
accessed by both Macintosh and Windows systems. Following the conference,
the WWDC '93 New Technologies CD will be distributed to members of Apple
Developer Programs worldwide.

In addition to formal sessions, developers can take advantage of many other
special events and opportunities during the WWDC, such as ATG Afternoon, a
popular show-and-tell presentation by Apple's Advanced Technology Group,
providing leading-edge technology demonstrations and sneak previews of
futuristic product concepts.

Technical labs, hosted throughout the week, allow attendees to meet
individually with Apple engineers to get advice on specific programming
projects. Attendees are also invited to visit special product expositions
and extensive concourse displays, where they can gather valuable
information on a wide range of developer services from Apple and third
parties.

More than 1,200 Apple executives, managers, engineers, and marketing
representatives will also attend the WWDC, providing third-party developer
attendees with frequent opportunities to exchange information, share
ideas, and discuss issues one-on-one with Apple employees--an activity
that consistently rates among the key benefits of attending the
conference. Extending this opportunity for interaction, Apple will host
more than 20 feedback forums and Q&A sessions during the week, inviting
developer feedback on specific technologies and strategies.

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, hosted by the Apple Developer
Group, is being held May 10 through May 14 at the San Jose Convention
Center. The conference is open to developers worldwide, including Apple
Developer Program members, Apple Multimedia Program members, independent
software vendors, corporate developers, value-added resellers, and systems
integrators.
