SPECTRUM HOLOBYTE TO DEVELOP GAMES BASED ON HIT TELEVISION SERIES: STAR
TREK - THE NEXT GENERATION

Third-Quarter 1993 Release Expected for the Super Nintendo and MS-DOS
Platforms

In an exclusive agreement with Paramount Pictures, Spectrum HoloByte will
produce a computer game version of Star Trek: The Next Generation,
America's number one syndicated hour-long series. A leading interactive
entertainment developer and publisher, Spectrum HoloByte is best known for
its cutting-edge work in games for the personal computer. A third-quarter
1993 release for the Super Nintendo and MSDOS versions is planned.

Spectrum HoloByte's Star Trek: The Next Generation will allow players to
take command of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the flagship of the Federation's
Galaxy class starships, to visit strange new worlds, encounter alien life
forms and experience dozens of other realms of graphic adventure. Players
will travel to distant star systems and select a complement of away-team
members for the mission. Players will then use the transporter to beam
down to the planet's surface and control ship's operations--from
engineering to transporter-room functions--with an interface modeled from
the studio set of the actual U.S.S. Enterprise.

In developing the Star Trek: The Next Generation games, Spectrum HoloByte
has gathered top talent in and out of the interactive-entertainment
industry. Andrew Probert was the original spacecraft and set designer for
the series and acts as a consultant on the games. Stephen Goldin, a writer
of some 30 science-fiction novels, is the primary technical writer on the
Star Trek: The Next Generation project.
