Gupta Announces Shipment of SQLWindows 4.0 and Quest 2.0

Menlo Park, Calif., April 6,1993--Gupta Corporation announced today that
the much-anticipated new releases of its front-end client-server tools,
Gupta SQLWindows 4.0 and Quest 2.0, are now shipping.

Gupta SQLWindows 4.0 is the first PC client-server tool designed to meet
the collaborative programming needs of client-server application projects.
The unique TeamWindows component of SQLWindows and its dictionary-driven
application repository offer team coordination and management capabilities
that were previously available only in expensive mainframe-based software
development systems.

Gupta Quest 2.0 is a major new release of the leading end-user data access,
query and reporting tool. Quest 2.0 includes new security and control
features that enhance its role as a secure data access tool in large
client-server installations. It also includes more powerful business
reports, support for additional back-end SOL databases (Informix and
AS/400, in addition to Gupta SQLBase Server), and OLE client and server
support. With OLE client and server support, Quest 2.0 users can easily
integrate Quest data into other Windows applications, as well as embed OLE
objects, such as graphs, into reports, and store and retrieve OLE objects
in the database.

Gupta Quest 2.1 a maintenance release that will be available in June free
of charge to purchasers of Quest 2.0, will feature a new Forms activity.
With Quest 2.1, end users can easily create forms-based data management
interfaces automatically from SQL data, and customize them using graphical
painting tools, menus and dialog boxes.

SQLWindows 4.0

The TeamWindows component of SQLWindows 4.0 facilitates and manages
development by teams of programmers working on larger, more complex
client-server production applications, by allowing them to share and
re-use code. TeamWindows features a dictionary-driven application
generator, check-in and check-out facilities, security, project
management, and source-code and version control.

SQLWindows 4.0 also features a complete Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
environment with inheritance, polymorphism and encapsulation. SQLWindows
4.0's OOP feature is optional, so programmers can learn the new OOP
techniques as they go, referring to extensive on-line Help facilities and
step-by-step options and using them alongside the SQLWindows Application
Language (SAL) to create their applications.

With the addition of the new QuestWindow, programmers can now easily drop
tables and objects they quickly build in Quest into their SQLWindows 4.0
applications.

Other enhancements to SQLWindows 4.0 include complete support for Dynamic
Data Exchange (DDE), Multiple Document Interface (MDI), Object Linking and
Embedding (OLE) and richer reporting options in Gupta's uniquely powerful
Report Windows, a completely integrated full-featured report writer.

SQLWindows 4.0 Pricing. SQLWindows 4.0, the new version of Gupta's leading
client-server application development tool, is available in two
configurations: the Standard Edition is priced at $1995.00 and includes
the SQLWindows 4.0 Application Design Module, ReportWindows,
SQLTalk/Windows, SQLBase Server for Windows and the SQLBase single-user
database engine. The Corporate Edition is priced at $3495.00 and includes
the SQLWindows 4.0 Standard Edition plus TeamWindows, the innovative new
multi-programmer development environment that introduces collaborative
programming to PC application development. The Corporate Edition also
includes Quest and EditWindows.

Current SQLWindows users subscribing to Gupta's License Subscription
Service program can upgrade from SQLWindows 3.1 Standard Edition to
SQLWindows 4.0 Standard Edition for $300.00. All other users can upgrade
