DE/CARTES VERSION 2.0, THE WINDOWS 3 DOCUMENT MANAGER, OFFERS NEW FEATURES
FOR SINGLE USER AND GROUPWARE.

(Mahwah, New Jersey -- May 19, 1993) Desktop Engineering International,
Inc. announces the release of DE/Cartes Version 2.0, the Document Manager
that makes document filing and retrieving quick and easy by efficiently
cataloging all the documents in your office. Version 2.0 features an
improved user interface as well as performance upgrades. New enhancements
include: 1) A text menu bar similar in style to the menu found in nearly
all Window programs, with use of key stroke short cuts; 2) A new button
control menu which contains all the most frequently used controls; 3) All
user operations on a document are now recorded in the document audit
trail; 4) A split screen function which allows folders and documents to be
dragged and dropped between the two windows; 5) Performance improvements
which exceed the previous version by up to a factor of 300; and much
more.

The enhanced DE/Cartes Version 2.0 now supports the following "drag and
drop" options: copying documents between folders; copying folders between
cabinets; moving documents and folders; and moving complete folder trees
between cabinets. Version 2.0 also offers an export facility - any
document can be exported from DE/Cartes to any of the drives and
directories available to the user. Further, the new version restricts
access to the office, cabinets and folders. A new multi-user document
database allows up to 250 users on any Novell fileserver to access in
excess of one million documents.

The original version of DE/Cartes gained acclaim from a large number of
users and reviewers. DE/Cartes uses easy to recognize icons to quickly
identify the day to day operations of creating new documents, editing old
revisions and deleting out-dated information. Using a simple filing
structure, DE/Cartes lets the user see at a glance exactly what is on
their system. Each document name can have up to 64 characters, so it is
easy to see exactly what is in each DE/Cartes cabinet, folder and
document, and each document can have an unlimited number of revisions
on-line for immediate access. With DE/Cartes, every cabinet, folder and
individual document can have a note attached to it, like a computerized
Post-It note. Each note can be set up with different fields used for
searching for information about the document. In this way, whole groups of
associated documents or folders can be quickly retrieved from anywhere in
the system.

Minimum hardware requirements for the program on a personal computer
include: IBM PC or 100% compatible, MS-DOS 3.0 or later, Microsoft Windows
3, graphics card and mouse supporting Microsoft Windows, Hard disk space
of 5 Mb., 2 Mb RAM or more and, for networking, Novell 3.11. All Desktop
Engineering products are available from authorized dealers located
throughout the world. For more information, contact Desktop Engineering
