Central Point Announces Safe Six for MS-DOS
Virus Subscription Service Provides Protection for MS-DOS 6 Users

BEAVERTON, Ore.--March 29, 1993--Central Point Software, Inc. today
announced Safe Six, which immediately updates the anti-virus component
included in Microsoft's new MS-DOS 6 operating system. Along with the
initial update, Safe Six also includes a subscription that automatically
provides the MS-DOS 6 user ongoing protection against newly discovered
viruses.

"The fact that MS-DOS 6 contains an anti-virus utility represents a major
step forward in the continuing fight against viruses," said Chuck
Boesenberg, president and CEO of Central Point Software. "With more than
100 new viruses appearing monthly, users need a way to stay current if
they are to stay protected. Safe Six offers MS-DOS 6 users a way to ensure
comprehensive and continuous protection against viruses."

While the anti-virus utility in MS-DOS 6 detects more than 1,200 viruses,
Safe Six ensures that MS-DOS users have protection against new viruses.
The first update included in Safe Six recognizes the new viruses that have
surfaced since the completion of MS-DOS 6. The subscription provides two
future updates at no additional cost.

Customers who choose to buy Safe Six at the same time they purchase MS-DOS
6 will have immediate protection for current viruses. Central Point will
send the future updates directly to registered users as soon as they
become available, supplying the additional virus protection without
requiring any extra effort on the part of the user. After these updates
users may renew their Safe Six subscription for continued protection, with
new updates released by Central Point every three to four months.

Central Point developed the MS-DOS 6 anti-virus module for Microsoft. This
represents the first time that a version of DOS has included virus
protection. The MS-DOS 6 anti-virus module and Central Point Anti-Virus
products offer users the same level of protection against viruses,
providing for their detection, cleaning and eradication on individual PCs.
In addition, Central Point Anti-Virus includes features geared toward the
corporate and organizational user, including network installation and
updating, customized error messages and password protection.

While Safe Six expands the number of viruses the MS-DOS 6 anti-virus
component recognizes, it does not modify the program's feature set. Safe
Six requires MS-DOS 6 for operation.

To ensure continuous virus protection, Central Point and Microsoft are
offering users two options to update the anti-virus module in MS-DOS 6.
Safe Six, available through the distributor and reseller channels in April
1993, provides users with a total of three updates for a suggested retail
price of $49.95. Safe Six can be purchased with the MS-DOS 6 upgrade or at
a later time. In addition, the MS-DOS 6 upgrade manual contains a special
coupon offer redeemable for one update for $9.95 or two updates for
$19.95. The coupon offer will be fulfilled via mail by Central Point.
Additionally, if a user purchases both Safe Six and one of the MS-DOS 6
upgrade manual coupon offers, Central Point will combine the two offers to
provide the user with up to four consecutive updates.
