Apple and Macromedia Update Progress in Furthering Multimedia Technology
Initiatives

SAN JOSE, CA--March 30, 1993--Apple Computer, Inc. and Macromedia, Inc.
today provided an update on their efforts designed to stimulate the use of
multimedia technologies in business, education and home markets.

Five multimedia initiatives established by Apple and Macromedia are
designed to increase accessibility, availability and awareness of
multimedia solutions that benefit customers. The two companies announced a
broad-working relationship this past February at the Macworld/Tokyo
Exhibition.

"These initiatives provide focus and momentum for both authoring and
infrastructure development," said Steve Franzese, Apple manager of
Multimedia Marketing. "Progress in these areas will also help ensure
success in our playback and solutions initiatives."

"Apple and Macromedia are committed to evangelizing multimedia technology,"
said John C. (Bud) Colligan, Macromedia's president and CEO. "In just six
weeks, concrete accomplishments have been made and the ground work has
been laid for the future."

Multimedia Initiatives

The five multimedia initiatives and the progress made by Apple and
Macromedia are as follows:

* Multimedia bundle. The Macromedia Desktop Studio CD-ROM (consisting of
Action! Macintosh, SoundEdit Pro and a ClipMedia sampler) will be sold
both individually and bundled with various Apple CD-ROM hardware
worldwide. The first release is scheduled in Canada for April with
followon releases worldwide in the fall. Apple expects to ship 1.5 million
CD-ROM drives worldwide in calendar 1993 and this bundle is the first
software solution sold with these drives.

* Learning templates. Apple and Macromedia have signed an agreement to
develop a suite of higher education and corporate learning templates with
a third party. The templates will be developed with Authorware
Professional and delivered on Apple CD-ROM hardware, setting the standard
for higher education and corporate training departments. Availability of
the templates is scheduled for late summer.

* Training support centers. To support developers in making world-class
interactive titles, Apple and Macromedia will continue investing in
existing university and multimedia consortiums. Initial focus will begin
with Cornell University, New York University and San Francisco State
University along with The American Film Institute in Los Angeles.

* Market education. Macromedia and Apple Computer have sponsored a
worldwide multimedia educational tour entitled "Jazzed on Multimedia,"
This tour, launched by Graphix Zone in Irvine, California, is directed to
developers and end users who want to "jazz up" communication and
presentations with Macintosh-based multimedia solutions. Beginning in
April in Los Angeles, "Jazzed" will travel to over eleven cities by the
end of June. In total, the tour will be marketed to over 100,000
multimedia prospects around the world.

Macromedia launched its "Seminar in a Box," the complete toolkit for
planning and producing effective multimedia seminars. The "Box" features
solutions and product information highlighting usage with Apple hardware
and will begin shipping to all authorized VARs, dealers and distributors
during March.

In addition, Apple Computer has developed a set of CD-ROMs designed to
educate the multimedia beginner on authoring systems and solutions.
Delivery is scheduled for early May.

* Channel development. Macromedia launched its own "VAR Reseller Days" tour
in North America during the month of March. Co-sponsored with Apple
