IDB Object Database Adds Features, Lowers Price

Pittsburgh, PA - April 15, 1993, Persistent Data Systems, Inc. announces
Version 2.0 of the IDB Object Database. IDB Version 2.0 offers more
capabilities at a lower price. Now priced much lower than comparable
object database products, IDB makes object database technology available
to a much wider group of personal computer and Unix workstation software
developers.

An emerging technology, object databases have been priced out of the reach
of many software developers. IDB Version 2.0 for the first time brings a
full object database within the budget of all software developers. The
list price for a single developer license is $995 for Microsoft Windows
and Apple Macintosh; $1500 for NeXTstep and Windows NT, and $4000 for HP
and Sun. For sites needing more than one copy, IDB quantity discounts
offer an unmatched per-seat price.

IDB Version 2.0 adds support for several new platforms: Apple Macintosh
with MPW, Microsoft Windows with Borland C, Windows NT and NeXTstep 486.
Other supported platforms include Microsoft Windows with Microsoft C,
Apple Macintosh with THINK C, NeXT, Sun SPARC, HP Domain/OS and HP/UX. IDB
will run stand-alone on any supported platform or may be used to share
data across networks with any combination of supported platforms.

In addition to the textual schema language supported in previous releases,
IDB Version 2.0 adds an interactive schema designer. The IDB Interactive
Schema Designer provides a simple and intuitive interface that lets users
more quickly and easily create new schema and examine and modify existing
schema.

For developers looking to get started with object databases, the IDB
Introductory Package gives an introduction to object databases in general
and to IDB in particular. The IDB Introductory Package sells for $99 and
is available for Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh.
