CODAR INTRODUCES RUGGEDIZED LAPTOP WORKSTATION

Longmont, CO. -- March 22, 1993 -- Codar Technology, Inc. introduces the
Cougar Series Ruggedized Laptop Workstations, powerful, high-performance,
SPARC or VME based lightweight portable workstations that give users a
range of capabilities previously unavailable in the industry. The
ruggedized Cougars measure 5.5"(H) x 19.0"(D) x 17.7"(W), weigh
approximately 37 Lbs., and when operating can withstand temperatures from
0 to 50 degrees C, altitudes from -100 to 15,000 feet, and humidity from
5% to 95%. The Cougar is designed to meet EMI requirements of
MIL-STD-461.

The Cougar offers flexibility in its configurations, and several versions
are already in production. The Cougar VME features a SPARC2 (VME) CPU,
with a 10.4" color active matrix LCD (TFT) display, one removable 1.2
Gbyte hard drive, a battery back-up system using Reflex technology (the
most sophisticated "smart charge" technology in the industry), a sealed
keyboard and integral trackball, polymer-based isolation bumpers, and an
optional audio intercom system which allows direct headset connection with
full EMI compliance. This unit is totally sealed and conduction cooled
with special heatsinks located radially around the back and sides of the
machine.

The Cougar IPX features a SUN IPX CPU, a 10.4" color active matrix LCD
(TFT) display, graphics adapter for internal and external displays, two
drives (one fixed floppy and one 1.2 Gbyte removable), AC/DC input power,
the Reflex battery recharging system, and is air (fan) cooled.
Additionally, current plans call for a PC version to be available in
production quantities by June 1993.

According to Milt Martin, Codar's VP of Engineering, "The Cougar
development program demonstrates how Codar is responding to the changing
defense industry climate. We are focusing on complex technical programs
with more aggressive schedules and a broad range of technologies, and
providing cutting edge solutions that outperform anything currently on the
market - all in an extremely short time frame."

Codar Technology, Inc. pioneered the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)
ruggedized computer industry in 1981, and in January 1991, was awarded the
industry's first patent for ruggedized design techniques. Codar is a
financially secure, mature company that leads the industry in designing,
manufacturing, integrating, and supporting ruggedized and TEMPEST computer
systems and subsystems for the Department of Defense and its
subcontractors and allies. Codar has participated in more than 150 DoD
programs worldwide.
