NEW SOFTWARE, TOOLS WILL GIVE DOS USERS ACCESS TO PHOTO CD IMAGES

SAN JOSE, Calif., Mar. 30, 1993--Tens of millions of computer users running
MS-DOS operating system software will be able to access images stored on
Kodak Photo CD discs, thanks to new software and developers' tools being
announced by Kodak today.

The new software is the DOS version of Kodak Photo CD Access software,
which gives users the ability to read and save Photo CD images and to
import the images into their DOS applications.

Available since late last summer to users of Macintosh and Windows
operating systems, Photo CD Access software has proved to be extremely
popular. Kodak has sold more than 40,000 copies so far and is currently
shipping 2,000 more units every week.

In addition to the DOS Access software, Kodak today also announced the
Kodak Photo CD Access developer toolkit for MS-DOS. The new toolkit, like
those already available for Macintosh, Windows and Sun/UNIX environments,
will give DOS application developers the ability to flexibly access images
stored on Photo CD discs.

"Since 1987, when the first 286-based PCs were introduced, millions of
DOS-based machines have been sold," explained Georgia L. McCabe, worldwide
manager, Commercial CD, in Kodak's CD Imaging unit. "Today, even with the
advent of Windows software, large numbers of people continue to work in
DOS. The new software and developers' tools we're announcing today promise
to bring the excitement of Photo CD technology to these users."

About Photo CD Access Software

Kodak Photo CD Access software is a low-cost tool that's designed for the
computer user of Photo CD images and for those who want to import Photo CD
images to current applications (such as Freedom of Press or Mathematica
image editing software). With Kodak Photo CD Access software, users can
read and display Photo CD images and can perform basic functions such as
cropping, and image rotation. The software also acts as a bridge, allowing
users to import their digital images into other applications for page
layout, image enhancement, and other uses via TIFF, BMP, PICT, EPS, and
other popular image file formats.

For the DOS version of Photo CD Access software, Kodak has built in a
graphical user interface that features pull-down menus and "thumbnail"
versions of stored images. The software loads easily and once installed
eliminates the need for the user to remember any DOS commands.

Photo CD Access software for DOS will be available in early April, direct
from Kodak, for $39.95. The software comes loaded on a CD-ROM disc and is
accompanied on the disc by 24 sample images. A Photo CD-compatible CDROM
drive is required to use Photo CD discs and software on a computer.

Developer Toolkit

The Kodak Photo CD Access developer toolkit for DOS consists of a library
of the basic C-language functions required to read images from a Photo CD
disc into memory in formats that are compatible with the DOS environment.
The toolkit also provides the sample code needed to export the images to
industry standard file formats, such as TIFF and EPS.

The toolkit provides for Photo CD images to be read into a number of
standard color and gray scale formats, including full 24-bit RGB color. In
addition, it provides basic image-manipulation functions, such as
rotation, and handles all the recomposition of the higher resolution Photo
CD images.

The Photo CD Access developer toolkit has been optimized for the 640K
memory constraint that exists in DOS. The $695 suggested retail price
includes the toolkit and a Photo CD sampler disc. The toolkit, which is
scheduled to become available by mid-May, requires DOS 3.0 or higher.

To help support developers who use the toolkit, Kodak offers a special
two-level program. The silver level, which costs $395, enables developers
to display the Photo CD logo on their product packaging. The gold level,
at $795, adds special technical support, including a promise to answer any
technical question within 24 hours.

Those who would like to order either Photo CD Access software or the Photo
CD Access developer toolkit, or who require more information, may call the
Kodak Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-242-2424, extension 53.
