NEW PUMA POUNCES ONTO SCENE

SyDOS Introduces New 3.5" 105MB Removable Cartridge Disk Drive for PC
Market

Now Get Faster, Higher Performance and Greater Capacity in a Smaller
Portable Storage System

BOCA RATON, FL (April 14, 1993) SyDOS, a division of SyQuest Technology,
has added a third state-of-the-art product to it's PUMA series of external
removable cartridge disk drives. The new 105MB drive is the first 3.5"
external removable cartridge disk drive on the market and joins the PUMA
44MB and 88MB 5.25" subsystem product's, all of which employ Winchester
technology, and include a high-performance parallel port adapter for ease
of installation.

Called the PUMA 105, the new removable cartridge disk drive incorporates
SyQuest removable technology into a smaller 3.5" size with 105MB
incremental storage. Use of Winchester technology allows the PUMA 105 to
achieve high-performance average seek times of 14.5 msec, 100,000 power-on
hours MTBF and a 64K buffer. The subsystems can be used with virtually any
DOS- or Windows-based desktop, laptop or notebook PC.

Linda Haury, vice president of marketing notes, "The PUMA 105 offers the
performance of a fixed 3.5" hard disk drive at a comparable price with the
additional benefits of removability and portability.

Provides Unlimited Capacity

"It's the increased megabyte capacity and 3.5" drive size that's
significant." Haury adds. This product marks the first time SyDOS has
offered an external removable cartridge disk drive with greater than 100MB
capacity in a 3.5" form factor," she explains. "This is especially
important for portable computer users, who do not have the option to
install an internal drive or who require true storage portability."

"With the growing demand for more and more storage, removable drives offer
an ideal, inexpensive solution for small business and home office users,"
she continues. "Instead of buying another fixed drive, which is limiting
in its storage capabilities, you can use as many removable cartridges as
you need for unlimited capacity."

Parallel Port Offers Plug-and-Play Installation

The PUMA 105 comes with a parallel port interface utilizing a device driver
to manage communications between the PC and the drive for easy
plug-and-play installation. Installation involves simply plugging the
cable into the parallel port of the computer and into the SyDOS drive and
loading the installation software.

The parallel port adapter also includes a printer "pass-thru" to allow
simultaneous connection of the drive and a printer to the same parallel
port. In that respect, no functions are lost, and there's no need to
switch cables back and forth.

Back-up Made Easy

The PUMA 105 plays an important role in providing easy back-up. With the
integrated parallel port users can back-up all the computers in the office
-- just carry it from computer to computer. And, there is no special
software to learn, simply use DOS commands. The PUMA 105 can back-up 105MB
of data in approximately 10 minutes.

The user can store programs or files on separate cartridges, making it easy
to organize their work by project, application or by individual users. In
addition, SyDOS removable cartridges are ideal for those applications
where security and confidentiality are important.

Reliability, Portability and Battery Powered

Enhanced portability ranks high on the list of advantages to the new PUMA
product, which features a built-in carrying handle and optional battery
pack with up to 5 hours of continuous use. And, the PUMA 105's 3.5"
diskette is small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. Based on SyQuest's
proven technology, The SyDOS PUMA 105 utilizes the same reliable
industry-standard Winchester technology found in all fixed disk drives. In
addition, SyDoS backs its promise of reliability with the best warranty in
the industry: a two-year warranty on the drive and a five-year warranty on
the cartridge.

Competitively priced

With a suggested list price of $1,119, and additional 105MB cartridges at a
list price of $299, the PUMA 105 provides fixed-drive performance with the
convenience of portability and removability at a reasonable cost. The PUMA
105 comes complete with the drive, SyQuest 105MB data cartridge, it's own
power supply, an integrated parallel port adapter with printer "pass
thru", installation software, cables, and step-by-step instructions for
quick, easy installation.
