New Unix Version of Client-Server Decision Support Application Development
Tool Announced

Wilmington, Delaware - 7 April 1993 - MicroStrategy, Inc. is pleased to
announce the 1 May 1993 release of the Unix version of EISToolKit, an
application development environment for building cross-platform,
client-server Executive Information System (EIS) and Decision Support
System (DSS) applications, for the Sun OpenLook and Motif environments. In
addition to the Unix version, MicroStrategy will also release EISToolKit
version 2.1, an upgraded Macintosh and Windows version of EISToolKit. Over
the next six months, MicroStrategy plans to release the OpenLook and Motif
versions of EISToolKit for the Apollo, DEC, HP, IBM, MIPS, Motorola, NCR,
SCO and SGI hardware platforms. With these three versions of EISToolKit,
designers can now build client-server decision support applications which
run identically on Unix, Macintosh, and Windows clients.

All three EISToolKits platforms include graphical user interface (GUI),
presentation graphics, database connectivity, and spreadsheet modeling
tools, in addition to a full-featured spreadsheet for data analysis, and
HyperScript, a powerful 4GL (fourth-generation programming language) for
detailed project customization. EISToolKit's point-and-click SQL generator
provides easy access to over 50 relational and non-relational databases
from Windows and Macintosh clients, including Oracle, DB2, Informix,
Ingres, Sybase, AS/400, Rdb, Progress, Paradox, and dBase files. Unix
clients will initially have access to Informix databases, with Oracle and
Sybase expected soon. These databases can be accessed through multiple
gateways (where applicable), including SQL*NET, EDA/SQL, MicroDecisionware
Database Gateway, Open Client/Open Server, and SequeLink. For flexible,
open solutions for database connectivity, EISToolKit for Windows ships
with the ClearAccess, Pioneer QELIB, and Informix DataLink APIs;
EISToolKit for Macintosh ships with the ClearAccess and Informix DataLink
APIs; and EISToolKit for Unix ships with the Informix DataLink API.

EISToolKit's major features include graphical tools for the creation of
custom layouts, controls, graphs, and links between layouts; a Function
Library which contains over 100 pre-build functions customized for EIS/DSS
application development; MicroStrategy's UltraSQL extensions, which allow
designers to insert variables and arrays into their SQL code, which at
query runtime are converted to standard SQL; and EISToolKit's "drill-down"
feature which allows the development of extremely flexible data browsing
schemes (with no programming) to generate successively more specific and
more detailed data queries.

With the release of EISToolKit 2.1, MicroStrategy also improves product
documentation with the addition of a detailed tutorial which leads the
developer through the design of a real world EIS/DSS application. In
addition, a detailed System Integration Guide provides users with specific
information on application integration, networking, and database
connectivity. As in previous versions of EISToolKit, all Macintosh,
Windows and Unix versions of EISToolKit 2.1 come with working
demonstrations to assist designers in building EIS/DSS applications as
quickly as possible.

EISToolKit 2.1 is available in both a Designer and a User version. The
Designer version provides application designers full access to all
EISToolKit features, and enables EIS/DSS system construction. The User
version enables users to run customized applications created with the
Designer version. The Designer version is available for $1,995, and the
User version ten-pack is available for $7,995, for all three hardware
platforms. For additional information, please contact Mr. Deep Damle at
