DELTA AIR LINES SELECTS U.S. ROBOTICS' COURIER V.32bis Fax AS CORPORATE
STANDARD 14.4Kbps MODEM

SKOKIE, Ill., -- February 9, 1993 -- U.S. Robotics, Inc., today announced
that Delta Air Lines, Inc., selected the U.S. Robotics Courier V.32bis Fax
modem as the corporate standard for 14.4 Kbps modems. The Courier V.32bis
Fax will be used for standard end user, asynchronous dial-up
communication, and will be recommended in any future installations at all
Delta offices both domestically and worldwide where asynchronous
communication becomes a requirement.

Atlanta-based Delta, one of the world's largest airlines, evaluated many
14.4 Kbps modems and chose the CCITT compliant Courier V.32bis Fax. "We
selected the U.S. Robotics' modem for a number of reasons," said Rick
Wood, manager in Delta Air Lines Information Technologies Dept. "Most
significant is that U.S. Robotics modems are certified in a number of
countries throughout the world. Since Delta serves 34 countries and has
approximately 65 international offices, this was a serious
consideration."

Wood added that the Courier's remote configuration feature was important to
the Information Technology Dept.'s efficiency. Having the ability to
configure the modems by dialing in rather than trying to talk the end user
through the process obviously saves a lot of time.

"Being selected by Delta Air Lines continues our commitment to provide the
world's leading data communication users with products of the highest
quality, performance and reliability," said Jon Zakin, U.S. Robotics
executive vice president, sales and marketing. "U.S. Robotics is equally
dedicated to protecting these same users' investment by having the option
of upgradability."

The high-speed Courier modems provide the most cost-effective upgrade path
to the forthcoming CCITT 28.8 Kbps standard. Field upgrades will be
available when the CCITT 28.8 Kbps recommendation is completed. Official
approval of the standard is not expected until January, 1994.
