Revolutionary 16-bit Animation: TEMPRA Turbo Animator

Support for Sony VISCA Provides Single Frame Accuracy Control for Movie
Files Stored on Disk

(COMDEX--Las Vegas, NV--Nov. 16, 1992) Mathematica, Inc. announces an
upgrade of its TEMPRA Turbo Animator product to include 1 6-bit animation
capability and Sony VISCA support. Mathematica's new FLX file format
extends FLI and FLC specifications to give animators more flexibility in
creating photo-realistic animations. In addition, users can control Sony
VISCA and other single-frame accuracy decks through the computer in TEMPRA
Turbo Animator to create and save to hard disk movie files that will play
back in realtime (30-frame-per-second) motion. The upgrade begins
shipping: Nov. 23,1992, and retails for $295 (as an add-on to TEMPRA PRO
and $495 (as a stand-alone product that includes TEMPRA SHOW interactive
multimedia presentation program).

"This ability to control and capture video frame-by-frame and store to disk
compensates for general hardware inability to handle full-motion video
storage," says Derek Hodges, president and CEO of Mathematica, Inc. "It
opens up a new world of possibilities for animators, videographers, and
hobbyists, bringing true 'Hollywood' effects to the desktop."

"With the introduction of 16-bit TEMPRA Turbo Animator for real-color
modes, multimedia presenters will no longer be confined to the aggravating
limits of 8-bit pseudo-color productions," said Robert Schneider, vice
president of development at Mathematica, Inc. "Multimedia developers will
now be able to develop presentations with full color video. This will lead
to better presentations, since video will be fully integrated with TEMPRA
Turbo Animator. Compromising with cartoon presentations will become a
memory, much like vacuum tubes."

TEMPRA Turbo Animator is a dynamic program that includes two powerful
features: the Turbo Charger, a 32-bit protect mode accelerator that
enhances TEMPRA PRO's editing speed from 5 to 14 times over other imaging
products. The Animation Editor/Movie Maker lets users edit existing 8-bit
FLI and FLC animation files created in other animation packages and create
original 8-bit FLC and 1 6-bit FLX animation files. With the Movie Maker,
animators and video producers can capture video from any supported video
source, including the Cardinal SNAPplus and the Creative Labs Video
Blaster, ranging from realtime to a 16-hour-per-frame delay. With Sony
VISCA support, users can control incoming video in TEMPRA Turbo Animator
using a Sony Vbox with any compatible video peripheral or a Sony Vdeck.

TEMPRA Turbo Animator provides animation functions and the full range of
TEMPRA PRO imaging features, including all geometry tools, filters, color
flexibility, masking and color protect, for creating high-quality
animation and video files.

Since 1986, Mathematica, Inc. has been developing computer graphics and
imaging software on MS-DOS and Unix-based PCs and RISC systems for AT&T
Bell Labs, AT&T's Software Labs, and Fuji Optical Systems. The complete
line of TEMPRA products are available to dealers through Merisel, Ingram
Micro, Tech Data, and Kenfil in the U.S.; Neidermeier Data Systems in
Germany; Lako Vision in Australia; and Phase 3 Communications in the
United Kingdom.
