Product Description:

Apple Computer, Inc. has added two new configurations to its award-winning

230 with a high performance internal modem, and a new Macintosh Duo Dock
equipped with an internal hard disk drive. The new Duo 230 model has 4MB
of RAM and a 120MB hard disk drive, and comes with a built-in internal
PowerBook Express Modem that can transfer data at up to 14,400
bits-per-second (bps), and send and receive faxes at 9600 bps. Combined

The new Macintosh Duo Dock features a 230MB hard disk drive, a Motorola

with faster video and support for up to 32,000 colors on Apple displays up
to and including the Macintosh 16" Color Display. In the United States and
Canada, this Duo Dock configuration will also include a file
reconciliation software package (PowerMerge by Leader Technologies). File
reconciliation applications such as PowerMerge enable users to
automatically update files contained on the PowerBook Duo, the Duo Dock
hard drive, or a network server to the latest version.

Significance:

These new configurations extend the capabilities of the Macintosh Duo
System, giving users more value, performance, and flexibility in the same
compact, easy-to-use design.

The Macintosh Duo System combines the benefits of notebook and desktop
computing, and comprises three main components: a PowerBook Duo notebook
computer, the Macintosh Duo Dock, and PowerLatch docking technology.
Together, these components deliver a smooth transition between the worlds
of desktop computing and notebook computing.

Pricing and Availability:

Both new configurations will be offered immediately through authorized
Apple resellers worldwide. In the United States, the new PowerBook Duo 230
model will carry a suggested retail price of $3,219, and the new Duo Dock
configuration will carry a suggested retail price of $1,975. Apple expects
availability of the Duo Dock to be limited during initial stages of
manufacturing. Pricing, availability, and distribution will vary outside
