BASIC Programmer's Function Call Library for NetWare

(ASCI) announces the release of the Network BASIC Library for NetWare
version 2.0 scheduled for February 15, 1993.

The Network BASIC Library is a collection of over 250 functions valuable
for writing utility programs or commercial applications for NetWare that
need direct access to NetWare services. The Network BASIC Library provides
the programmer with access to NetWare services for accounting, bindery
management, connection services, directory and file management, locking,
messages, printing, queue management, security and rights, semaphores,
transaction tracking and workstation services. Functions are provided for
all versions of Advanced NetWare including versions 2.X and 3.X.

The Network BASIC Library includes over 300 pages of comprehensive
documentation explaining the use of each function and providing general
discussions of software development with NetWare. Over 80 sample programs
are included in the manual and on disk to illustrate the use of each
function.

Version 2.0 enhancements provide nearly 50 new functions including the
addition of NetWare 386 specific features such as support for encrypted
passwords, file trustees and NetWare 386 rights. Functions providing IPX
peer to peer message capabilities have also been added.

The Network BASIC Library for NetWare supports Microsoft Quick BASIC and
Microsoft BASIC and is available for $295. Upgrades from version 1.0 and
1.1 are available for $75.

Sample Programs!

The Network BASIC Library is packed with sample programs that can be used
as stand-alone utilities or imbedded into application code. Many of the
samples are work-alikes for the NetWare command line utilities such as
castoff, caston, chkvol, flag, flagdir, holdoff, holdon, login, logout,
map, ncopy, ndir, nver, purge, rendir, salvage, send, setpass, systime,
tlist, userlist and whoami.

In addition there are utilities that provide the functions of pconsole,
fconsole or syscon from the command line. For instance utilities are
provided to list the print jobs in a printer queue, remove all jobs from a
queue hold all jobs in a queue, viewing and setting the status of a queue,
and bump a job to the beginning of a queue. Bindery management
capabilities include listing users, groups or any other type of object,
getting a user's account balance, renaming a user, removing a user adding
a user, setting a user's trustee rights and managing group memberships.
Console user utilities capabilities include shutting down a server,
clearing a connection, disabling and enabling login and sending a message
to the file server console.

Many other useful utilities are available for instance to perform a
networkwide file find, a file server directory tree display, a utility to
set the user name, station id number and connection number as environment
variables, and a utility to assign directory ownership.

All utilities are provided with source code and may be down loaded from our
bulletin board or are available on disk for pre-sale evaluation.
